Highland Room Dance Floor

I was given two pieces of the now demolished Mecca Highland Room dance floor in January last year as a present.

I understand there are only around 200 of these pieces "in circulation" - forgive me if I have got my facts wrong on this point.

I did go to Wigan Casino and the Highland Room back in the late 60's / early 70's and I probably danced on these very pieces!

However - my life priorities have changed and I now want a de-clutter so I am looking for offers for these pieces of history.

In passing - if anyone knows the whereabouts / contact info for Steve Nixon (lived in Anchorholme, Cleveleys) please let me know - he was/is a very big fan.

Oh my God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yes:

Am I in the wrong place? Should I just burn the floor pieces on my woodburner (it is very cold)? Do you know Steve? A bit of elaboration may help me - thanks!

Try searching members on here for Fyldecoast. That's Steve McWilliams he may know of Steve Nixon's whereabouts.

There were hundreds of these and most of them not from the dancefloor. The parque floor covered the whole room even under the tartan carpet. so you may not have danced anywhere near these peices.

Many thanks for this; the pieces I am referring to are discussed in this article from Rock FM - They are "burned" as "Highland Room December 2008" and sold by Blackpool Council - they are not just two bits of wood without provenance. I understood from the Grundy Art Gallery (who controlled the sale) only 200 such pieces were sold or given as prizes in competitions. A google search on "highland room dance floor" gives more detail but please see the following link;

https://www.rockfm.co...9987&spid=11191

If there are indeed many hundreds of pieces (assunming all marked as outlined above) then I apologise for wasting anyones time - this was not my intention.

Many, many thanks for the referral to Steve McWilliams.

PS - Given the fact that that all pieces sold out within 3 hours of release I wonder where the demand came from if not NS fans?

sleep3.gifGo to the next "Flog It" It would be funny to see them sell for a fiver

Thanks - at least that's almost practical advice unlike some of the inane comments left.

You know what really pisses me though - its that people you have never met and never offended in any way think its perfectly OK to jump on a forum or topic and insult you with through away comments.

I really don't understand this or the mentality of people who do it.
