The Northern Line (This Saturday)

Recommended Posts

There's a great 'buzz' about The Northern Line already and we're now on the final countdown to our first event this coming Saturday 23rd January.

With Pat Brady & John Parker confirmed as our extra special guest DJ's for our first night we really are trying to set a standard that will hopefully see everyone's tastes catered for from today's in-demand tunes to yesterday's oldies with lesser known gems thrown in for good measure.

We've just had confirmation that Roger Banks will be our extra special guest DJ at our next event in May.

After hosting a series of successful events in the past, DJ's Chris Penn, Moz Arnold and John Griffiths have teamed up to run a new Soul Night in what is arguably one of the best venues in the North West to never have hosted a regular Soul Night before; The Alford Hall on Manchester Road in Warrington.

After an exhaustive search for suitable venues Moz identified The Alford Hall. Once we found that the quality of the dancefloor (traditional maple) and the welcoming attitude of the manager matched our first impressions of the hall itself we were hooked.

Take a quick look at the photos via our Facebook page (link below) to get an idea of the size and layout of the Alford Hall. You don't need to be a Facebook member to access our page.

The venue can cater for around 300 souls (or in our case 'Soulies') who'll be able to enjoy 5 hours of great soul music every other month throughout 2010. Doors will open between 7.30pm and 12.30am, bi-monthly on the 4th Saturday of the month on the following dates:

January 23rd

May 22nd

July 24th

September 25th

November 27th

We had booked for March 27th and had flyers printed, but due to a slight mix up over a Wedding we are now unable to go ahead with the March event.

Whilst we couldn't get a later finish than 12.30am (due to local residents and licensing issues) we hope that by starting at 7.30pm on a Saturday that everyone will be able to get there early and enjoy a full evening. For those travelling a 7.30pm start still gives you a full 5 hours of quality soul music with a Premier Inn less than a mile up the road if you need to stay over.

We're probably one of the easier events to find and are on the main road from the M6, Junction 21 heading into Warrington (we're around 5 minutes from Junction 21).

In the meantime, thanks for reading this. Please have a look at our Facebook page and we hope to see you in 2010 at The Northern Line.

Cheers Matty,

Many thanks for your vote of confidence; we'll do our level best to deliver a great night and we're all 'chuffed to bits' that Pat and John are DJ'ing.

Hope to see you later in the year and in the meantime I hope that you've not been caught out again by the wife when you've been buying those 'biggies' (sadly my wife also no longer falls for the "they're only a tenner each" line).

All the best.

Chris
