***(1) 7" singles

Reuben Bell 'Making Love To Funky Music' / 'Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye' (Alarm / USA / 1977 / Ex+) *£12*

( REDUCED FROM £25!! Good double-sider on ever-reliable Reuben - topside is a chunky Funk cut which does it's job (wasn't this used on Brainfreeze or something) and the flip is a well-regarded Deep Soul cut - exemplary condition - this looks barely played...bargain, seen @ £50 on other lists - but not here... )

The Brand New Rhythm 'B.N.R. Groove' / 'Ride On' (BNR Records / Switzerland / 2008 / M-) *£5*

( REDUCED FROM £10!! Great Nu Funk from Switzerland - 2 brilliant sides, one vocal and one instrumental - limited to 500 and only available via mail order - never on sale in shops - grabbit - my next one will probably be £20+... )

Troubled Soul 'Funky Me Pts 1 & 2' (Crowbar / UK / 2003 / M-) *£5*

( REDUCED FROM £10!! Long-deleted and a future indemander - this is actually an old Funk acetate which was previously unreleased. Now lovingly remastered and restored by Craig the Funky Plumber and Daddy Bones - only 500 pressed - will one day be a £100 record - believe me... )

Linda Clifford 'Runaway Love' (Curtom / UK / 1978 / M-) *£3*

( REDUCED FROM £6!! Useful little 7" press for this guaranteed floor packer from Linda - clocks in at over 3 and a half minutes and will definitely save you lugging the 12" around... )

Freddy & The Kinfolk 'The Goat' / 'Blabbermouth' (Dade / USA / 1960s / Ex+) *£8*

( REDUCED FROM £15!! Fair price on this ever-indemand Funky R&B number with daft "goat bleats" in the backing - well, ya can't have it all ways - flip is tasty too in a kinda "Mohawks / The Champ" vein - nice 45 - few light crackles here and there so not up to a M- grade... )

Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings 'What If We All Stopped Paying Taxes' / 'This Land Is Our Land' (Daptone / USA / 2007 / M-) *£3*

( REDUCED FROM £6!! Fairly recent release but WELL up to these talented people's usual standards...intelligent cover version on the flip a la Woody Guthrie...

Naomi Davis 'Promised Land' / 'Inst' (Daptone / USA / 2001 / M-) *£3*

( REDUCED FROM £6!! Gabe Roth rarely puts a foot wrong in the studio and this release is no exception... )

Naomi Shelton & The Gospel Queens 'What Have You Done' / 'I'll Take The Long Road' (Daptone / USA / 2001 / M-) *£3*

( REDUCED FROM £6!! Unplayed copy of this long-deleted (but not long-forgotten!) Daptone release... )

New Master Sounds 'It's Alright Now' / 'Inst' (Deep Funk / UK / 1999 / M-) *£4*

( REDUCED FROM £8!! Long-deleted, early release on this short-lived BBE subsidiary - produced by Mr Keb Darge himself - 2 good Funk sides... )

Spencer Wiggins 'Love Machine' / 'Love Me Tonight' (Fame / USA / 1970s / Ex+) *£8*

( REDUCED FROM £20!! Cracking "greazy" Funk on the flip with hard, hard brass work and a plaintive, wrist-slashing Deep Soul churchie number on the flip - brill little 45 - promo copy too - few surface marks here and there which don't detract...promo copy here too... )

Kim Melvin 'Doin The Popcorn' / 'Keep The Faith' (Hi / USA / 1960s / Ex+) *£12*

( REDUCED FROM £20!! Lovely (actually quite hard!) DJ copy of this ace femme-vox'd Mod dancer - ace Hammonds splashed all over this... )

Runette Roberts 'She Didn't Know' / 'Inst' (ICA / USA / 1977 / Ex+) *£10*

( REDUCED FROM £20!! Another unusual record and one that is hard to pigeonhole - it has elements of Deep Soul but also has Moog parts and synthesiser splashes all through - the flip is not actually completely instrumental and has some vocal parts and works better for me because the instrumentation is more at the forefront - nice 45... )

Count Sidney & His Dukes 'Feel Delicious' / 'The Grandpa' (Goldband / USA / 1960s / Ex+) *£8*

( REDUCED FROM £15!! I've had a few of this guy's records now and they've all been good - this one is no exception - hard brass and heavy organ sounds - seems to be a bit of a sleeper...anyways, very, very worthy... )

Bill Doggett 'Honky Tonk Popcorn' / 'Honky Tonk' (King / USA / 1960s / VG-) *£3*

( REDUCED FROM £6!! As sampled to death by The Beatnuts on 'Are You Ready' and Pete Rock on a tune I can't remember right now cos I've had a beer...this one's a white demo too- but - this record is ROUGH....plays fine but loadsa crackle / surface noise BUT plays all through just FINE - grab a bargain... )

Joe Frazier 'Try It Again' (JoBo / USA /1960s / Ex+) *£15*

( REDUCED FROM £30!! Dunno if this is actually the boxer, Joe Frazier, himself on vocals here? Guess it must be - the label 'Jo(e) Bo(xer)' is a big clue - it's actually a very decent stab at a Funk side - produced Richard Rome and written by Bobby Byrd - looks kinda obscure / rare...good condition - light scuffs, nuttin major.... )

Richard Fudoli 'Gweee' / 'Bossa Nova Jumpin Bean' (Maestro / USA / 1960s / VG+) *£8*

( REDUCED FROM £15!! Wonderful little flute-y / Latin / Mod track - totally recommended for the DJs out there - better version / pressing to the Date issue in my book too - this one's a bit crackly so priced accordingly - would be £20 / £25 if one grade better... )

Tommy Ridgley 'Boogie Train' / She Turns Me On' (Maison Soul / USA / 1986 / Ex+) *£3*

( REDUCED FROM £6!! Later release on Tommy but still very, very listenable - chunky little Disco/Boogie cut which has some decent brass and a few nice keyboard splashes - reminds me a bit of a 1980's version of The O'Jays 'Love Train'... )

Yambu 'Sunny' / 'Caballo' (Montuno / USA / 1975 / Ex+) *£4*

( REDUCED FROM £8!! Nice Latin/Disco version of this classic as produced by Milton Hamilton and comped by Dr Bob Jones a while back too.... )

The Soul-Ins / The Love Kittens 'Soul In Pt 1' / 'Keep It Up' (Mos-Ley / USA / 1960s / Ex+) *£8*

( REDUCED FROM £15!! Unusual to have a U.S. 7" feature 2 different artists on one 7" - normally done only on Jamaican stuff - this one's a goodie - topside is a tuffer Funk inst while the flip is more of a Sister Funk vocal track with lovely harmonies a la The Lovelites on 20th Century etc etc - nice to get two good tracks from different artists on one 7"... )

Pauline Shivers 'Won't You Come Back Home' / 'You're A Devil' (O-Pex / USA / 1970s / M-) *£10*

( REDUCED FROM £20!! Nice to have this absolutely stunning midpacer Xover tune in again - reminds me a LOT of Maxine Brown / Mary 'Queenie' Lyons etc - strong side and very highly recommended! THIS IS WICKED - DON'T MESS AROUND... )

The Flames 'Stand Up And Be Counted' / 'My Lonely Hour' (People / USA / 1972 / Ex+) *£10*

( REDUCED FROM £20!! Tuff promo copy of this rare JB-produced funky double-sider - one for the 'Rare Groove' massive out there...has always been a tough one to find - my first-ever copy, actually... )

Joe Perkins 'Looking For A Woman' / 'Wrapped Up In Your Love' (Plush / USA / 1970s / M-) *£8*

( REDUCED FROM £15!! Lovely copy of this nice double-sider from Joe - as with most of his releases, there's an uptempo side and a slower side - 'Looking For A Woman' is the funky side in a 'Cajun' style - nice and sleazy - while the Deep flip is also well-regarded - seen @ £35 on another list only last week... )

Flame 'N' King and the Pazant Bros 'Brandyfoot' / 'Human' (P.M.P / USA / 1984 / Ex+) *£10*

( REDUCED FROM £20!! New one on me? I know both these band's earleir work very well but I had no idea they'd ever actually worked together? I'm guessing Flame N King provide the vox and the Pazant Bros are on the backing? Strange record with strong P-Funk leanings and the most bizarre lyrics I've heard in many a day. It's actually a good Boogie tune when the singer keeps quiet - not for the faint-hearted...!!! )

For Real 'Like I Do' (Rowdy / Jamaica / 1970s / Ex+) *£3*

( REDUCED FROM £6!! Sorry - this is SO obscure that I've been unable to dig up much on it at all - all I can tell you is that it's a lovely, female vocal version of the H-D-H song and bops along really, really well - a fiver well-spent... )

Hank Johnson / Gene Anderson 'You Lost Your Thing' / 'The Gigolo' (Sex Machine / USA / 2004 / M-) *£3*

( REDUCED FROM £6!! Loudly cut reissue of these two very expensive Deep Funk tracks... )

( REDUCED FROM £6!! Ditto the above... )

Leon Thomas 'Tonight' / 'Leon's Blues' (Sunshine / USA / 1977 / M-) *£3*

( REDUCED FROM £6!! Later release from "Mr Yodel" - topside is a kinda uplifting 'disco gravy train' lash-up while the flip is more akin to his earlier work on Flying Dutchman.......... )

The Mighty Passions 'Baby Dumplin' / 'I'm So Lonely' (Bridge / USA / 1984 / M-) *£5*

( REDUCED FROM £10!! Never had this West Coast Boogie / P-Funk bit in before - all of the 'trademarks' you'd expect to hear are present... )

The New Mastersounds 'Ode To Bobbie Gentry' / 'Taurus' (Blow It Hard / UK / 1999 / M-) *£3*

( REDUCED FROM £6!! Unusual promo copy of this killer Nu-Funk double-sider... )

Diana Ross & The Supremes 'He's My Sunny Boy' (Tamla Motown / Germany / 1968 / VG+/VG+) *£6*

( REDUCED FROM £10!! Lovely, Euro-issue picture bag copy here - Cool price for this one - well recommended femme funky soul...tune! Big demand last time I listed this so managed to dredge up another copy..... )

( REDUCED FROM £50!! 20 classic Latin Soul / Funk/Jazz / Disco sides here people on 10 x 7" singles - all in a beautiful box set - including Bobby Valentin 'Use It Before You Lose It', Harvey Averne 'Stand', Chollo Rivera 'Latin Soul Is Here' + loads more - 20 excellent tracks in total - a joy to have all of these in one place - these 10 records are all unplayed - bought this at time of release as an investment and immediately filed away...works out to £2.50 per 7" - great value... )

***(2) 12" singles

Ashford & Simpson 'Love Don't Make It Right' (long/short) (WB / USA / 1980 / M-) *£4*

BT Express / The Winners 'Express' / 'Get Ready For The Future' (Roadshow / USA / 1970s / M-) *£4*

Light Of The World 'Secretmasters EP' (Bona Fide / UK / 2000 / M-) *£3*

( REDUCED FROM £6!! Clever little release - getting these UK legends to remake four big "Jazz Funk" tunes for their reunion tour a few years back - we get 'Expansions' , 'Got To get Your Own' , 'For The Love Of Money' , 'For The Love Of You' - big, BIG tunes....stone minter here... )

The Minority Band 'Tasty Tune' / 'Live' (PPU / USA / 1980s / M-) *£4*

( REDUCED FROM £8!! Previously LP-only, these two tracks were put onto 12" and re-released for our delight - much louder than the LP - which has gone as high as $1500.00+ in it's time.......over £1000.00......phew...........unplayed copy here...heavy echoplex action... )

Mary Mundy 'Love Me, Love Me' / 'Inst' (Image / USA / 1980 / M-) *£10*

( REDUCED FROM £20!! Cracking 12" from Ms Mundy - as sampled by Bucketheads on 'These Sounds'...stone mint apart from a slight warp which doesn't affect play....like this...a lot... )

Pleasure 'Glide' (Fantasy / UK / 1981 / M-) *£8*

( REDUCED FROM £15!! So good on 12" press - so loud and so bright - makes the 7" / LP versions sound like they were recorded inside a cotton wool factory....wanna hear a man who knows how to make a mini-Moog sound like it's singing? Unlimited Touch 'Searching To Find The One' / 'Carry On' (Prelude / USA / 1981 / Ex+) *£20*

( REDUCED FROM £40!! Yet another rare white promo press 12" from Mark Rez this list - this one is a BEAST to source - Francois K on the mix and so, so tuff to find on 12" promo, believe me..... )

Weeks & Co 'Rock Your World' / 'Dub' (Formula / Canada / 1982 / Ex+) *£4*

( REDUCED FROM £8!! Good Boogie piece in the same vein as their 'Go With The Flow' hit - this one has some more dubbier parts though and is a bit more 'left-field' - good 12"... )

***(3) LPs:

Jon Lucien 'I Am Now' (RCA / USA / 1977 / Ex/Ex+) *£10*

( REDUCED FROM £20!! First sleeve issue (Jon's face) issue of this top LP with the evergreen 'Who Will Buy' but I also absolutely love 'My Cherie Amour' on here and all of the others too - so highly recommended if ya don't already own this one! I believe this is Jon's first-ever LP release? I notice that a recent 'Best Of' included 7 of the 12 cuts from this LP? That, for me, speaks volumes..........buy buy buy........sleeve is a bit tatty due to slack storage but vinyl is criss..........never heard Jon sing 'Find Yourself A Lover'? Ya won't believe how stunning this man's vocal control is...when he hits those low notes, my mind goes into spasm and I can't move till the track is finished.......big, big fan..... )

Della Reese 'One More Time!' (HMV / UK / 1967 / Ex+/Ex+) *£15*

( REDUCED FROM £30!! Lovely, lovely copy of this currently much-indemand LP on Della for the wonderful cut 'It Was A Very Good Year'...barely a mark on this... )

Benny Gordon & The Soul Brothers 'Tighten Up' (Hot Biscuit / USA / 1960s / Ex+/M-) *£55*

( REDUCED FROM £45!! 'Walk That Walk, Talk That Talk' , 'Cosmic Vortex' , 'Love Your Brother' etc etc - beautiful copy, I'd say it was actually unplayed...you'll be very happy if you take it - I see this LP still making close to $100 on eBay all of the time so grab yaself a bargain.... )

The Majestics 'A Tribute Otis Redding' (Arc / Canada / 1960s / Ex+/M-) *£25*

( REDUCED FROM £40!! All Majestics LPs are cool - this one ain't the rarest but it's a goodie too - 'Respect' , 'Mr Pitiful' , 'Satisfaction' , 'Security' etc etc - beautiful shape and a solid Soul / Funk LP... )

Aubrey Mann 'Tribute To The Man' (Scorpio / Canada / 1980 / VG/M-) *£5*

( REDUCED FROM £10!! Must say the sleeve is tatty here - ok? Corners are well worn etc etc - seems this guy did an Otis Redding tribute show and took his chances to put his stage show onto vinyl? Mainly slow / deep stuff here like 'Pain In My Heart' , 'I've Been Loving You Too Long' , 'A Change Is Gonna Come' etc etc but all very well done... )

Billy Martin 'Strawberry Soul' (Trans-World / Canada / 1970s / Ex+/M-) *£135*

( REDUCED FROM £175!! I just checked my archive and I last had this for sale in 2003.......!! That copy went for £250 - sure - the price has dropped a bit since then but this remains a killer and extremely rare Soul/Funk set - 'Stax' , 'Funky Feeling' , 'Egg Roll' , 'Phillie Dog' , 'Watermelon Man' etc - so good! Condition is exemplary...again, this LP has been well-looked after... )

Rayfield Reid & The Magnificents 'Treat You Right' (Ken-Tone / USA / 1970s / Ex+/M-) *£100*

( REDUCED FROM £150!! Again - I defy anybody to find fault with the condition of this record - it appears as if pressed yesterday...fantastic "pimp" sleeve too - so many great Soul / Funk cuts - Stick Shift Pts 1 & 2' , 'Dynamite Party' , 'Treat You Right' , 'My Love Keeps On Growing' etc etc - all tracks are worth checking - just a peach... )

Sunny & The Sunliners 'This Is My Band' (Key-Loc / USA / 1960s / Ex/Ex+) *£50*

( REDUCED FROM £75!! Very rare Texan Funk / Soul LP - I believe 'Soul Power' from made it onto one of those early 'Pure' comps which were highly influential? So many goodies here like 'The Thing' , 'Grazing In The Grass' , ' The Horse' etc etc - lovely condition too - mild wear here and there to the sleeve but the vinyl is clean as a whistle... )

Johnny Pacheco 'El Gran Pacheco' (Fania / 1970s / USA / Ex/Ex+) *£5*

( REDUCED FROM £10!! 1970s press of a 60s (gold Fania) original - best track here is actually called 'Fania' which is a good, good Montuno...the gold press will make north of £60 - making £10 for this a fair price... )

Chano Scotty 'Favoritos Bailables' (Musicor / USA / 1967 / Ex+/Ex+) *£15*

( REDUCED FROM £30!! Exemplary condition here - barely a mark on record or sleeve - believe me...it's worth the cash for the psychedelic cover art alone - it truly is "messed up"...music is good too - 'Estamos Ai' , 'Boogaloo No 2' , 'Vanidad' , 'Boogaloo No 1' , 'Ultimo Adios' , 'Chano's Boogaloo' etc etc - lotta bang for your buck if ya take this...

Chano Scotty 'The New Sound Of Chano Scotty' (Musicor / USA / 1967 / Ex/M-) *£15*

( REDUCED FROM £30!! No psyche artwork on this one and the bottom seam has a 3" split so graded down a bit - 'Bossa A-Go-Go' is great on here - bouncing club titty-shaker track - real, real nice... )

The TNT Band 'TNT = Dynamite' (Cotique / USA / 1960s / VG+/Ex+) *£15*

( REDUCED FROM £30!! Creeping up indemand again - price is pushing $100 elsewhere - great LP from Tito and Tony - several good Latin Funk/Soul tracks - 'Mr Slick' , 'Descarga TNT' etc - sleeve is a bit rough with a bit of tape here and there but vinyl is clean as a whistle... )

Johnny Zamot 'Zamot' (Mericana / USA / 1974 / VG+/Ex+) *£40*

( REDUCED FROM £75!! Light wear / yellowing ot sleeve at opening - barely noticeable - I mention it only in passing - wax is 99% clean - shrinkwrap is still in place...undoubtedly one of THE best versions of 'Soul Makossa' ever recorded with superb flutes and a banging bassline - and this is the one LP on this label that very rarely shows up too... the vinyl is pristine, has made £100 many, many times - definitely one of JZ's rarest LPs...superb label too.... )

That's all folks........cheers...Mark the Rez
