Guest
I've dropped a bollock BUT after a year long absence myself and Michael will be along for a dance, a gossip and maybe a bit of a flirt... This is only possible as I have promised to drive home straight after If I am being sedate and well behaved, this is the reason why I bloody hate driving.... Oh and I will probably need reminding that I cannot drive in my contact lenses and will need to put my glasses on before we leave... and not after I have been driving for a bit when I suddenly realise that I can't see properly.... Save me a space on the dancefloor near the speaker by the pillar near my table Link to comment
Maria O
Save me a space on the dancefloor near the speaker by the pillar near my table I'm always first in the venue, so will make a sign up with your name on it . Seriously miss seeing you on that dancefloor girl! After an amazing Bamberg experience, I think today it's finally time to start doing something useful ...other than my job . So, here's the DJ roster for the next Boomerang: 08:00 PM - MARIA O (30 min) 08:30 PM - ARTHUR FENN (30 min) 09:00 PM - BUTCH (60 min) 10:00 PM - MARIA O (45 min) 10:45 PM - ARTHUR FENN (45 min) 11:30 PM - BUTCH (90min) ---- 1AM CLOSE ---- Hope to see you there, nice & early! m Link to comment

Maria O
The Belmont hotel is now reopened just around the corner. Tel.01405 812320 Ahh... thanks for letting us know. I'll wait to hear feedback from you experts and speak to the venue before adding it back to this page: https://www.boomerangsoul.co.uk/find.htm Karen organises the collective mini-bus booking from the travelodge if people contact her, so everyone can chip in for the fare and save. Just phone or PM her in the next day or two ...ideally. Sales tables are best booked earlier this week too. Let either of us know via phone, PM, facebook or whatever ...as we coordinate the list between us (and a million other things, so the rush has begun ) . One of us will post up a list here before the weekend - just to be sure all made it on (or announce once we run out of space). For anybody who has not been for a while, entry is still via the pub door on the street corner now ...and walk through to the function room. Our website has full travel instructions. The dining room opens at 6pm and the front room pub is open all day Not sure on numbers for Saturday, but best to get there early if you want a seat, I bet . And please bring your event flyers for the table we set up, as we collect any left at the end and take to other venues. It's a better option to leaving them on tables where they just get wet then thrown out at the end of the night. Looking forward to hearing Butch at a soul night and in Yorkshire once again (been too long for either). No doubt, they'll be some fine soul music played ! m Link to comment

Guest
I understand that I might be forced to listen to records that I have never heard before, or have only heard a few times, rather than the 10,000 times that I usually need to feel comfortable. Not wanting to have to just sit quiely in a corner all night, I thought that I would take the time at home to practise my set dance routine - so that I can dance all night and fit it with the rest of the crowd... I was wondering though, will there be room for backdrops? 1, 2, 3, kick, 1, 2, 3, clap, spin, drop Oh and what is the de-rigour when it comes to outfits? I wouldn't want to stand out just because I'm not wearing the right coloured belt and matching sock combo Blimey I'm looking forward to Saturday Link to comment

As we always say - the back function room for Boomerang opens at 8pm, but many off us meet for drinks or food+ from 6pm onwards (the tavern is open all day and food is served evenings). The soul music only runs for 5 hours, so this warm-up social makes it even more worthwhile for travellers. AND - makes early doors even more fun when everyone's happy coming in! ...might be best to get there early on Saturday anyway . Not had a chance to coordinate today, but sales tables so far that I know about and am preparing 'reserved for' signs for, are: Andy Dyson, Fish, Val Challoner, Cliff Steele and Arthur Fenn. In case anyone is wondering, our other guest dj would just prefer to play soul music and socialise . Judging by posts, looks like most of the boys will be in the back discussing football and the girls will get all the dancefloor space .....nice! Getting knots in my tummy for this one - in a good way m ps. The fares are very reasonable. The minibus service is indeed booked for the end of the evening to shuttle people back to the travelodge, and I shall personally bundle those people who need a hand on board. Feel free to pm me or post if you can think of anything else we haven't covered above. See you Saturday, Karen xxxxxxxxx Link to comment

Best we can offer is Byrney rattling the bucket as he collects donations for Shelter It won't be the first time that Mr AJ Byrne has been seen as a prime bit of beef by some female, even at his stage of late. And its worth mentioning that he is not shaking his bucket just for the sake of it, remember he did run a marthonin less than 5 hours and its all raising sponshership for Shelter, a fantastic charity at any time, but probably one that will be even more needed in the next 5 years, so go on if you haven't already contributed, and even if you have, a few quid in the bucket goes a long way to putting a roof over someones head, and don't believe the propoganda, almost 100% of Shelter's customers need it more than we can believe. And just in case you haven't seen it his site is still open for some donations, make them here and you can take some money of this new govt and bring them down even quicker, oops did I say that. https://www.justgiving.com/Anthony-Byrne Sorry for banging the drum one last time for Mr Byrne but (a) He did brilliantly for a 73 year old astmathic (yes 73 its amazing what botox and running do) and (b) Its for one of my top charities and they really are going to need all the dosh they can get in the new climate.
