coops
Newark Nights just get better and better The Old Malt Shovel in Newark hosted it's second night of Northern and Rare Soul Oldies and whole heartedly proved the first one was no 'flash-in-the-pan'. This gathering of people with soulful-intent occurs in the restaurant of the Old Malt Shovel, Tables and Chairs moved aside, Decks, Record Boxes and the Patrons filling the gaps left by the vacating dining furniture. The whole point of the evening is to just come along and enjoy the soul, and that they did. No charge at the door but if one wished one could bung a bit of loose change in the collection bucket for Combat Stress (no pressure to do so but many did). Oldies dancing to oldies. Resident dee-jays Gus and Pete 'Caveman' Watkins along with guest Andy 'Smudge' Smith provided the tunes to accompany a politics free fun-filled night of Northern Soul. Keep an eye out for the next free event at the Old Malt Shovel and join those from Newark, Leicester, Boston, Peterborough and many other places for the third in this series of events in the very near future. images on https://ournorthernsouls.org Link to comment
