Paypal - Anyone Been Asked For New Passwords Etc

Logged into paypal and it's asking for information on either my bank account or my credit card (multiple choice) then the next page it's telling me to change the password.

It appears to be the proper site with the https address

https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_home&country_lang.x=true

I find it a bit strange that they are asking for this except the site looks spot on and I haven't accessed it from an email, I just accessed it from a bookmark.

Any thoughts?

Don't do anything Pete except contact paypal via their website.

A couple of months ago (& it was almost certainly my own fault not concentrating) I tried to log into what I thought was paypal site & I actually received a warning message asking whether I wanted the official site, sorry can't remember full details but if in the slightest doubt leave it out

Do's seem a bit iffy as Dave says contact PP I contacted them a while back with the same sort of problem they got back to me straight away telling me it was a scam.

Sounds dodgy to me but email Paypal and ask them. I've always done that in the past when I haven't been sure.

When I get these emails I just put any old vile rubbish in the box and see if it lets me through security and hey presto it works, then the vile nasty language continues to fill in the other details= sad eh

Just to reiterate, these are NOT emails, I know how to deal with those, this is when I actually log in to paypal. As mentioned above, it wasbecause I had an IP hider switched on.

I had issues paying for something on ebay this morning. The seller had trouble updating combined postage costs on the ebay invoice and suggested I change the postage amount via paypal. This generated a "non-normal" activity on paypal account and changed my status to "limited account access". I logged on using the www.paypal.co.uk, I've got it saved as a favourite for ease of use and saves me typing in the wrong address. After reading through thoroughly, it seems that they are reviewing frequent user accounts and this action is also generated if something out of the ordinary happens on the account.

I think its cosha and just an additional periodic check.

It appeared to be the proper site (and I'd typed the address in) but then they cleaned out my bank account by tricking me with "an extra security check"!

It could be a virus like mine - many of which you can pick up simply browsing the web, not just by clicking an email. They are becoming more and more sophisticated with these sites, so that the sites appear real. I'd posted my story you're interested and now check my firewall and run various virus / spyware checks regularly. As for emails, I dump many more than I used to, just in case.

I went back to internet banking and the rest though - too much hassle otherwise,

I spoke to them and got it checked, was legit - though I took all the money out just in case!
