Steve Myers
A great night as usual at the Victory, numbers a bit down, due to other things happening elswere, but nevertheless all who attended thoroughly enjoyed the night. A great selection of music played from Tony Barraclough, Kev Bruce and Sheila B, and last but not least, myself who, originaly should have been on from 8:00 till 9:15 ended up being on from 7:00 till 9:00 ably assisted on the decks by my good friend Mr David Eglan who had traveled from Kings Lynn that day and luckily brought some records with him. Between the two of us we managed to go right across the board starting with some R&B, some classic northern, and ending up via some mid tempo with some seventies sounds. From the best of my memory my selection is listed below, in no particular order, hopefully others will follow with their playlists. Jackie Wilson - The new breed - Brunswick Joe Tex - Close the door - Uk Atlantic Little Milton - Just a little bit - Checker Joe Tex - Fresh out of tears - Dial Lorenzo Manley - Swoop down on you - Original Sound Mickie Champion - What good am I - Mussette 70s reissue Frank Beverly - If thats what you wanted - Liberty Bell, rare 70s reissue Eddie Foster - I never knew - IN Darrow Fletcher - The pain gets a little deeper - Groovy Archie Bell and the Drells - Here I go again - Uk Atlantic..Most embarasing moment of the evening when the record refused to play properly. Thanks Charlie for lending me your copy Junior Walker - Gotta hold on to this feeling - Soul William Bell - Happy - Stax Jelly Beans - I'm hip to you - Uk Right on Gene Chandler - Groovy Situation - Mercury Deon Jackson - You said you loved me - Carla demo Edwin Star - I have faith in you - Ric Tic The Platters - Washed ashore - Musicor Mel Britt - She'll come running back - Fip Bobby Jason - Wall to wall heartaches - Ranwood Five stairsteps - Stay close to me - Curtom Johnny Taylor - Who's making love - Stax Bits'n pieces - Keep on running away - Nasco Chuck Jackson - I got the need - All Platinum Oscar Perry - I got what you need - PeriTone Darrell Banks - Our love is in the pocket - Revilot The Royal Jokers - Love game from A to Z - Wingate Drifters - You gotta pay your dues - Uk Atlantic Sweet Blindness - Cowboys to girls - Uk Quality Four Tops - Dont bring back memories - Uk Tamla Link to comment
