Pete S
This record never dates, it never fails to move me, it always sounds as brilliant as the first time I ever heard it and as far as I'm concerned, it's one of the top 5 Northern Soul records ever made, a truly unbelievable track. 1 Link to comment Social source share

Oh yes Pete, 100%. Still cherish my copy that I've had for 20+ years and always play it out whenever I get a D.J spot. Link to comment Social source share

Guest Raywebster
In my Opinion, this is the Best Northern Soul Record ever, as already said by someone else a real Anthem in its day and still as popular. Link to comment Social source share
funkyfeet
It would have been interesting to hear what Jay & the Techniques would have done with it had they recorded it. Link to comment Social source share
Goldsoul
It would have been interesting to hear what Jay & the Techniques would have done with it had they recorded it. I doubt Jay could have delivered a vocal as good as Eugene Thomas. Link to comment Social source share
Guest pharoahsoulero
untill the time i left for oz in 81 and took my sabatical this was the best track id heard on the soul scene, couldnt wait to get home from the casino to play it,once we,d all found out who it really was, it wasnt untill my second breath back home in 90s england that i realised how good the flip was too Link to comment Social source share
Guest REVILOT
Excellent stuff. And as Pete suggests - a truly special record that used to tick all the right boxes for me back in the day and it still does today Link to comment Social source share

Dean
Sat at work so can't play em but I'm comparing Megatons Detroit Sound in my head and thinking, yep I can hear that.. Be intersting to play side by side. Full of information Kev, thanks for all the detail. Link to comment Social source share
Ady Croasdell
Great stuff and it must be the same group as the Megatrons/Megatons whose 'Detroit Sound' on Laurie I used to play covered up in the mid 80s and we put out on a Kent LP of Laurie material. Eugene Thomas was the lead on that too. Any chance of licensing it from its owner? Assuming we'll get access to the tape of course? Ady Link to comment Social source share
Goldsoul
Ady, Kent would need to contact me. I have the Master tape. Link to comment Social source share
Cheltsoulnights
I have an Autographed promo. Will dig it out. The names are pretty clear and in different colour inks which suggests a complete line up for that particular 45 signed it. 1 Link to comment Social source share
Soulsaddler
I first heard this wonderful piece of music in the youth club in 1974, and I have loved it ever since. If I was pushed, I would have to say it's my all-time favourite. Link to comment Social source share

Guest soulcamper
Great Story and update on a true Northern classic. This was one of the first 5 Soul sounds I heard at Youth Club in 76 which turned me on to Soul Music and a great double header. Are there any other Epitome demo tracks out there, or did they just do the A & B sides in that session? Also any news on Eugene cutting new material? Cheers Link to comment Social source share

Just a small query Kev It has come to light that "You Don't Love Me" charted in July 1967 in both Detroit and Cleveland It has been suggested that it may be memory or a typo that this article says released early 1968 or perhaps the Demos were out and being played and the Issues were pressed much later, but thought would throw into the mix for anorak and histories sake if you can confirm please. Discussion is here on link below on Manships recent auction starting down the page The Yank Link to comment Social source share

Easy mistake to make though. 1 Link to comment Social source share
