On the last night (if indeed it was thee last night-Well the one were Tommy Hunt was on anyway!lol) l bent down to see a lad cutting up a piece of the dance-floor with a pen-knife (l seem to remember he was Scottish for some reason, it was more of a splinter (about 2" x 1/2 ")....He asked me if l wanted a go and l did the same, approx. the same size.....l put it in an envelope and kept it for years.......God alone knows where it is now? Have you have any memorabilia (Well stuff nicked from Wigan To be more precise..... yes.gif:) )

Just before they decided to knock the place down after the fire, the landlord of the Alexandra in Hindley green said to me one night , "John, if you want anything from the Casino my brother John (Radcliffe) has got the job of knocking the place down, Ray (the landlord of the said pub) said "Johns demo company is starting next week with the ball and chain stuff so get down there and ask for our kid and they will let you have a rummage around, (no health and safty back then realy).

I decided not to bother as it would be a bit upsetting........................................damm and blast, I wish I had taken him up on that offer.

damm damm damm sad.gif

The guy with the pen knife was Dougie Gray from Tranent.

Ive got a few tickets, patches, northern noise magazines and two coca cola bottles from the last night and two of my mates memberships, by the way i have no idea where my membership is I think i gave it to a girl from Chorley.

Someone has just asked me if it,s genuine----well of course with the advantage of D.N.A we can date it(like the Turin Shroud) and ascertain that the arse that sat on it was in fact a certain Rod Shard from Monton.

Now this poses several interesting questions .

Firstly , how many copies of the CC " 3B48 " were allocated for the giveaway .

Secondly , exactly what was that " first few through the door " number .

Thirdly , and more to the point , how many were copies were actually given away in exchange for the voucher .

WOULD LOVE SOME OF THE OLD POSTERS ,,,,THE CASINO FLYERS,,ETC,,,

Mark

I know someone that has a few of the old posters that were put up outside the casino Andy Hadfield a mate of mine, he was from Hindley Green near Wigan I think he now lives in France I know because I give them to him in 82 before I moved to Leicestershire along with a box of records I swapped for his complete Jam collection every single & LP including some overseas issues. The last time I visited him in Hindley around five years ago ish he still had them, funny enough I found a photo of my bedroom wall with the casino posters on surrounded by record label bags and allnighter anniversary ticket stubs and a few LP covers also a poster of the three soul disco albums "dance dance dance" was one and two others I cant remember the name of that came out in the mid 70's I can't even remember the label name at the moment rolleyes.gif But I'm sure I still have this poster rolled up in a tube some were!

I'll post up the photo later & poster if I can find it.

The blue poster with the photos on was re-issued a few (4 or 5) years ago, i saw it advertised in 'Scootering' magazine, always thought it was a bit of an odd one to re-issue?!

Its pictures like that that I love to look at, thanks for uploading them, top man.

I REKON IF YOU GOT ALL THE PICTURES FROM PAST MEMBERS THERE WOULD BE A GOOD BOOK TO BE HAD.

I have no intention to do such a book but Im sure if someone could........................................................................................it would be enjoyed by many on here

Errrr no.................it was a shithole.

WC had its' moments - and there were many of them , and I will even go so far as stating that they bordered on being exceptional - but sadly as you state Steve , it was a shithole ....... but before the

" thoushaltnotbesmearchthenameoftheholyshrine " brigade write in to complain , but so were several of the iconic venues .

Most people will agree that it was , but will not voice it publicly for fear of a type written stoning .

Hi Malc

I'm sure your right it would defiantly be a book to own especially if it contained a few words of the photo owners memories to go along side them.

Like on the very last nighter right at the end with the DJ's standing on the stage & Russ had stopped playing the last record over & over every one left in there clapping like mad! I was standing about half way down the dance floor to the right of the stage after picking up my Hitachi tape recorder of the top of the speakers on the stage I took the tape out turned it over held the player up over my head and pressed the play button and "long after the night is all over" started about half way though! Every one around us including all the Hindley lads started dancing Russ pointed at us lot and told Dave E he's get them dancing!.................. yes.gif
