Great to see this happening , long overdue and fantastic to see many of the south west locals djing .

I will always think of Nige Shaw when visiting Weston it was very much his baby when he was alive and ran do's there .

Yes this will be a great event/ weekend  Nige will be looking down on us that weekend and wishing he was there I am sure.

I think we'll get a little tribute to NS from

NB during the weekend. We have not forgotten his input within the Weston area.

Really looking forward to the going back to Weston , we checked out the venue a few months back when we there Djing for the Grand A and this venue is a fantastic circular arena which is on a lower level , you look down on it from above . We did take some images , but I can't find mine ? Maybe Nige still has his.

Cookie sorry to read you can't make it and I do acknowledge you were part of the Grand A team at that time , it's just that the old rascal is no longer with us , and you still are which is why I only mentioned Shawy in passing.

Lets have a great Jolly , have to see if we can find a good chip shop this time , last time Nige had Batter and chips in the hotel restaurant.... he could not find the fish for love nor money , any suggestions anyone ?

will have to go some to beat Whitby fish n chips ... though this one claims 'award winning'

' Winstons Fish Bar Restaurant

In terms of seafront fish ‘n’ chips, Winston’s has been a blockbuster success. Opened in 2004, they offer a good interpretation of a classic British meal; and a staple in the diet of the locals.

Order fish and you will be presented with a good sized piece of cod or haddock fried in a crispy batter, but the menu does not end there, With over fifty meals to choose from there are jacket potatoes, salads, ploughmans, steaks, soups and much more. There is also a selection of desserts which children will find especially attractive.

Winston’s Fish Bar can be found on the corner of Oxford Street and the seafront (Beach Road) and whether you choose to sit outside and look over the bay of Weston, or sit inside and watch your food being prepared on the plasma TV, your eating experience should be a memorable one. The decor is modern and distinctly smart for fish & chips; the dining area is sandwiched between a wall of giant fish tanks and the open plan kitchen.

The fish and chips are delicious, whether you eat in or take them away to sit on the seafront.

The modern feel is offset by the old favourites on the menu- cod roe, skate and rock.

They also offer halibut and plaice, and there is a huge selection of meals which are decidedly less fishy. One of the most popular meals is an OAP special (OAPs only of course!) which incorporates a fish supper, bread, peas and tea for only £5.95. Owner Lee Carpenter has deliberately considered children in his menu pricing and there are offers to include the kids which make a family day out much more affordable during the winter months, they offer free chips with any fish between 5-6pm and looking at the big picture it is fair to say that Winston’s offer excellent value.

Meals are presented with salad and coleslaw garnish, or peas and gravy if better suited and come served on an oval Winston’s plate. Everywhere your eyes fall you will see examples of branding that helped get this fish bar noticed for more than its food and in the quarter finals of the best South West chip shop competition in 2005.

Open all year round, they close an hour or so earlier in the winter, but you can enjoy a three course meal there and the atmosphere in the early evening is extremely pleasant. Understandably the restaurant is predictably busy in the summer days, serving up to 1500 people a day. With a little notice, this 120 seater can cater for birthdays, groups and coach parties with minimal fuss, and you can be assured of good value.

For those with a voracious appetite, the foot-long half-kilo cod portion aptly known as the Moby Dick will surely tempt you, but be warned: they’ll be ringing the bell while they serve it to you!
