Neil Rushton
I posted some time ago about the relaunch of Soul nights at an iconic venue from the past - Queen Mary Ballroom at Dudley Zoo. Am pleased to announce that the opening "SOUL DO AT THE ZOO" will be a Christmas Party on Thursday December 23 from 8pm till 2am. The QM has had a refurb and looks better than ever. If you've never been the place ...it's at the top of the 47 acres Dudley Zoological Gardens which is a major tourist arraction in the West Midlands, To get to QM you need to drive/walk past the animals in the Zoo. Parking will be on the grounds of Dudley Castle which dates back to the 11th century and is also part of the zoo complex. So it's a bit special! Thanks, Neil Link to comment

B.andlooks like we will see you New Year also for a drink before Lifeline at Bidds, as the A1 Fox has been "foxed". Will catch up with you before then no doubt, most probably somewhere between here and Landywood, and involving GH, and his eternal quest for "trades" Paul Link to comment

Neil Rushton
Me and paul where the last one's to run the soul nights there had some good nights. Good luck to you Neil Hi Phil, Thanks for your good wishes. If you get the chance to come along on December 23rd please do...you will love the new look of the QM Ballroom. It had a had a revamp costing £80,000 - it includes new floor covering and furniture, refurbsihing the dance floor and deorating throughtout. It looks and feels great. As part of the works, the small stage at the end of the room which had been there since the 1960's - and where loads of Soul records have been played since then - has been taken out , and as a result the curves of the oriignal "Tecton" design are accentuated, and you can more readily appreciate that the shape of the building was based on the Queen Mary ship when it was built between 1935 and 1937. It really is a magical venue. No way of getting Cuddles The Killer Whale back from those 70's Soul sessions, but the Zoo's very own 3 Lions are only about 100 yards away from the QM! All the Best, Neil Link to comment
Neil Rushton
About 50 advance tickets left, looks like it is going to be a great night. People coming from all over the Midlands to boost the bostin' Black Country contingent. Tickets @ £6 each available to purchase on line (PayPal/Credit or Debit Card) please go to - www.soulvation.biz Thanks, Neil Link to comment
Neil Rushton
Had people asking about access to the zoo grounds & Queen Mary. This will be via the Fellows car park gate, which is the rear of the recently reopened Fellows pub. The gate there will be manned from 7.30pm and this will be the entrance for cars and people waking up to the QM. If you are walking don't have a shock when the first animal you walk past, a raven, squawks at you. If someone is disabled they can be droppede off outside the QM but fire regulations means no car parking is allowed there, you will need to park in the grounds of Dudley Castle which are opposite the QM, or in the Fellows Club car park.
