bloody hell, for a demo i,'d have said 100 quid, 150 on a good day, somebody must really want it, never seen a issue must be pretty rare

Blimey. Almost $500 with 6 bidders and 6 hours to go. That's going some innit?

It's making me wonder any of the bidders have been reading the 'How Come They Never Made It Big' thread 'cos it's in there. Maybe it found a few new fans.....?

And the issue is incredibly rare. I think I've only seen it once.......

I've just seen an Uptights "Shy Guy" Columbia demo on ebay for $493 with six hours left. So that's well over three hundred pounds for what I always thought was a hundred pound record. albeit nm condition and a brilliant record as well. Has this become a big tune for anyone or have I been propelled ten years into the future?

I remember paying £8 for my first copy and being disappointed when I played it on my home Hi-Fi, as the drums are too punchy biggrin.gif

The previously unissued version on the Sony CD compilations a few years ago is MUCH smoother and more Northern imo...check it out

Yep good call Dave.

When the album was being mastered I couldn't believe how clear the mix was compared to the single. I think the 'muddy' mix on the single hampered it's chances to be honest. If the mix on the CD had been released instead of the one used for the single it really would have been a monster.

So if anyone wants to hear the best mix of this it's available for a mere £4 with free shipping from Amazon and you can hear a clip here........

I think it's a different take rather than mix? Agree, a total monster...the drumming and bass are flippin' fantastic and dancefloor friendly!

It could be. I've never actually done a close comparison - I just assumed that the single was simply badly mastered.....?

I'll have to give 'em both proper listens again and work it out. It was lucky that we insisted on using the original master tapes otherwise this mix/version would still be unheard. You can even clearly hear the countdown at the beginning of the track.......it blew my socks off when I heard it over studio monitors for the first time.......

Yep. Same take. I think Soul Time's long deleted now but the Blackpool Mecca CD's still available. Worth buying for that track alone.

Guest Soulman45s

Sold one to Manship a few years back for £50. Remeber it being on lists for about £60 at the time, so I'd say no more than £100 for a demo definately.
