Posted January 1, 201114 yr Hi, Happy 2011! I acquired a collection a while ago which included a James Bounty 'Prove Yourself A Lady' Radio Station Copy. I assumed this was a boot (although I was not sure). However, on looking on Popsike I see a number of very similar looking records. Is there an easy way to tell? Thanks for your help. All best Ion
January 1, 201114 yr There have been a couple of past threads on this subject - go into "The Sharp end of vinyl" and search under James Bounty - mid July 2009 All will be revealed. Best John

All best Ion The "dummies test" is to check the thickness of the vinyl, if it's really, really thin then it's an original, if it's on the thick side then it's a 70ts re-issue-boot type thing. Good luck.
January 1, 201114 yr Author Thanks everyone. My initial thoughts were correct. As ever, it looks as if a lot of people are buying boots on ebay at original prices. All best Ion
January 1, 201114 yr Is there an easy way to tell? I know if it has a machine stamped R in the run out groove its an Original.
January 2, 201114 yr THeir are other Machine stamps (Letters) including H The "H" is stamped on the boot as well.
January 2, 201114 yr Just checked the boot I have on the shelf. The "H" is definitely stamped on it although that is the only stamp. The colour of the label is beige rather than the off white the real one should be.Quite easy to tell side by side.
January 2, 201114 yr just looking on popsike, this one is listed as a 100% real one but looking at the colour it looks like a boot....certainly looks like the colour of the boot upstairs. real one should be more like this colour....
January 2, 201114 yr I can only see an "R" stamp on mine. Misunderstood Ernie's post. Thought he meant there were other letters stamped on original as well as "R". Seems H and I would be original as well as long as not boot with H. ROD Edited January 2, 201114 yr by modernsoulsucks
January 2, 201114 yr I can only see an "R" stamp on mine. NO "H". Pretty sure it is the original. ROD Deffo original with a stamped "R" Rod.
Hi,
Happy 2011!
All best
