NC SOUL CLUB WARM-UP at DUCIE BRIDGE - 31st JULY

Recommended Posts

I was so pleased to have the pleasure of DJing at the warm-up to the NCSC niter yesterday, alongside Nick Hackett and John Weston. Above all, it was so good to meet fellow Soul Sourcers Brett (who was NCSC's breakfast DJ!) and Christian, also Mike-H, Stevie-C, Mike from Manifesto and, of course, Steve Cato!! Also anyone else who I forgot to mention.........

Unfortunately, as it was such a long day and fatigue was taking its toll on me, I left the niter rather early with a view to getting some shut-eye and going back later. Sadly, I slept right through to 5.30 Sunday morning!! Sorry I missed the best part of the niter Steve and Chris et al, but promise to do better next time!! What an excellent venue you have yourselves - big thumbs-up to you all!!

Anyway, here's my playlist, complied from the two spots I played last night:

VINCE APOLLO: I Bear Witness (Pentagon)

THE MARTINELS: I Don't Care (Success)

DOROTHY BEERY: Don't Give Me Love (Big 3)

JOE SIMON: I See Your Face (Hush)

THE NOTATIONS: You Should Know (Sue)

NANCY BUTTS: I Want To Hold Your Hand Baby (I Get Lonely) (Flaming Arrow)

THE CHANDELIERS: Stop Dragging My Heart Around (Loadstone)

THE NATURALS: Don't Just Stand There (Path)

DONTEE STUDIO BAND: Alone With No Love (Dontee)

EDDIE FOSTER: I Never Knew (In)

EL BARON: You Done Me Wrong (Karen)

THORNTON SISTERS: Big City Boy (Bobsan) *

SHAWN ROBINSON: My Dear Heart (Minit)

THE MILLER SISTERS: Your Love (GMC)

BILLY STORM: Please Don't Mention Her Name (HBR)

DAVID & RUBEN: (I Love Her So Much) It Hurts Me (Rampart) - the version WITH the horn intro!!!

BEVERLY McKAY - Baby You're So Right (Old Town) *

HELP TRUTH & THE PORTRAITS: Emotions (True Love)

THE FABULOUS APOLLOS: Some Good In Everything Bad (Valtone)

THE SHAMETTS: Don't Waste Your Time (Gold Dust)

CAROL & GERRI: On You Heartache Looks Good (MGM)

* = Much thanks to Dave Greenhill for introducing me to these two tracks in the first place!!!

Great to meet you Gene, and cheers for passing on the plays. Big City Boy was highlight as haven't heard it out for a while and sounded well good

Have to say yet agin thoroughly enjoyed the warm up and sounds wise, a top of the tree start to the nite, with likes of yourself John Weston and Nick Hackett and worthy of any full on soul event

Ta to Stevie C and crew for doing the donkey work
