Grading info:

NM - spotless record. One tiny mark/scuff/flame/scratch and it's EX. Many new records will not make this grade.



EX - Basically everything that will look and play great.

VG+ - Will have marks that may very moderately affect play. Might have fairly large amount cosmetic marks not affecting play.

VG - Lots of marks, should still play fairly well but not perfect.

Plenty of marks, "Surely.." side plays ok but not perfect, "Stay.." side with some crackles in the intro then quite ok. Both sides of the label has a 2cm line written with felt pen)

Marie "Queenie" Lyons - See and don't see - Deluxe / EX / £70 (Classic sisters funk, soul with attitude)

Justice of the Peace - Havin' hard times - DFW Metroplex / EX / £50

Millionaires - Never for me - Philips / VG+ / £30 (Catchy northern soul dancer. Label has cut out hole).

Billy Garner - Brand new girl - BGP / VG / £20 (Original vinyl release of this popular deep funk funkster. Promo only 45 that came out in 2000 in very

limited supplies to support the Super Funk 2, it was previously unreleased. Lots of light marks, plays ok.)

Raw Soul - The gig - DPG / VG / £15 (Funky instrumental that I think was on the Goldmine Cleethorpes comp)

Leon Haywood - You and your moody ways / You know what - Evejim / EX / £10 (First label before Atlantic)

Imaginations - I want a girl / I love you, more - Bacon Fat / VG / £8 (plenty of light marks but plays ok)

JAZZ 45's

Girma Beyene - Enken Yelelebish/Ene Negne By Manesh - Amha / VG-/EX / £90 (Two monster Ethio sides arranged by Mulatu Astatke. Lots of marks on record, plays w/ some background noise but doesn't overpower the music, enjoyable to hear and fine for DJing. Plain sleeve)

Mr Joe Lee Wilson - Sittin high' / Come and see (sparrow singing jazz) - Wahalla / VG / £50 (AMAZING little 45! Two great sides by this superb jazz singer and an early one from him not on his albums. Has plenty of light scratches, plays with occasional crackle and pop. Very rare.)

Jean Carn - Little B's poem - Black Jazz / VG+ / £30 (Very rare, and indemand on 7 inch! Label is VG with dirt marks. DJ copy)

Mulatu Astatke & Menelik Wossenatchew - Mambo Sambo/Fikratchin - Philips / G/EX / £15 (Great Ethio funk/jazz arranged by Mulatu. LOTS of marks, "Mambo Sambo" plays with plenty of background noise but still fairly useful. The less interesting flip plays poor. Plain sleeve)

Gregg Stevens - I'm so lucky - Arba / EX / £15 (Great vocal jazz/soul, this is the fast 45 version which features some amazing fender piano. Promo copy.)

Woody Herman - Freedom jazz dance - Fantasy / EX / £10 (Ignore the artist! Best version I've heard.)

JAZZ ALBUMS

Dexter Gordon - Go - Blue Note / EX/EX / £125 (Stereo NY first press with Van Gelder stamp. "Cheese cake", "Love for sale" etc)

Horace Silver - Horace-Scope - Blue Note / VG+/EX / £120 (First press with W63rd st address/deep groove/RVG/Ear. Classic and great album "Nica's dream" etc. Vinyl got some light marks, plays well.)

Horace Silver - Serenade to a soul sister - Blue Note / EX/EX / £30 ("Rain dance", "Psychedelic Sally" etc. Blue/White Liberty Stereo first press)

Charlie Rouse - Yeah - Epic / VG/VG / £100 (Very rare stereo first press of this fine jazz album, front cover has some general wear, backside stains and small neat writing. Vinyl has marks, plays ok overall but the occasional pop etc)

Vince Andrews - Love, oh love - Gerard / VG+/VG / £100 (Rare album and great vocal jazz in the title track and "The one who needs you". Vinyl got light marks, plays well. Cover has a few tears on both sides with some paper residue.)

Baby-Face Willette - Behind the 8 ball - Argo / VG+/VG+ / £40 (With the fantastic, deep "Song of the universe". Less expensive but so much better than his Blue Note albums. Original deep groove US press. Front cover is clean but back has writing and some wear. Vinyl got some light superficial marks, plays well.)

Erdogan Capli - Exciting rhythms of piano pasha - Time / EX/EX / £40 (Superb eastern tinged jazz by this great turkish pianist, "Pasha's team" etc. Rare and great.)

Corky McClerkin - Searchin' For The Soul - Win Cor / VG+/EX / £35 (Huge rare groove classic. No marks but shade in vinyl on B (main cut is A1), plays well)

Jamey Aebersold - Witch hunt - JA / EX/EX / £35 (Rare private jazz, one of his harder and certainly better titles. Incl the superb title track)

Lee Morgan - The rumproller - EX/VG+ / £30 (1968 second press. Blue/white Liberty stereo, first press came in 1966. Including the modal masterpiece "Edda". Cover has light wear + dirt)

Harold Johnson Sextet - House on elm street - Revue / EX/EX / £30 (Classic modal jazz in "Delores", cover still in shrink but with a small cut out hole. National label release after local one on HME)
