You then write a review in the local paper saying that the restaurant wasn't very full, the main course was inedible and the chef was rubbish. When you're asked to explain you say that wasn't what you meant at all and everyone should have known that. I remember several years ago when Sam was trying to break the Hamilton Movement he played it to several hundred people in the oldies room at the Fleetwood weekender. I remember it because I'd first heard it a few weeks before and was gob smacked when only 5 people danced and the rest stood around with arms folded. Sam stuck with it and a few months later it was massive all over the place and still fills a floor. By your logic he should never have played it again. If this scene is to stay alive you have to allow Djs to play a few different things, even at an oldies night. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. Frankly anyone with a top 50 northern soul cd can fill a floor for an hour and if that's what you want then fine, but I prefer a DJ to be a little bit more adventurous even if some of the stuff he plays isn't to my taste. That's it from me, you've had your say and I've had mine, i don't think we'll ever agree but that's part of what makes the scene interesting. Last week was last week, I'm starting to look forward to the coming weekends jollities. the restaurant bin closed for a bad meal as it .like the rest of the thread blown sky high.think evrything been said ,on it all now but i could go on . Your'e really trying hard to cause offence are'nt you. .You think there's a diference between a dancer and a "chin stroker"? If so,what is it.A dancer doesn't collect/hunt/pay for records? Andybellwood Posted April 1, 2011 Share Posted April 1, 2011 (edited) it was our first time at "Taddy" and we thought it was superb ! ..what have we been missing ? ! ... we spent our time with friends old and new in the main hall which is like a mini stoke what a venue ! there was a mix of sounds and tempos to suit most in there at some time .. I feel the dj's did a good job playing to a wide variety of people who attend these days .. I enjoyed the spots played , not all 100 mph .. but in the main, all dancers .. and not all "run o' the mill" .. The crowd were well up for a great time ... no p**s heads ...all people loving soul music and having a great time... still on a buzz ! will be back at the next one too .. pete n' susan KTF great to see you both - it was exhausting for me and that was just watching you dance , Edited April 1, 2011 by andybellwood Link to comment
