Were there Cult soul tunes back in the 60's,70's,80's,90's, for instance when I hear Prayin by Harold Melvin it brings back fond memories of the 70's such a played tune at the time, but still sounds great today, I suppose this could be THE cult tune of the 70's?

Cult: An exclusive group of persons sharing an esoteric, usually artistic or intellectual interest

This describes the scene really...not just one song. or am i missing the point?
