I'm recovering from a late night out at The Sub Club to see Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings. F you have not seen her do so son. An excellent soul review with a tight six piece horn led band and a pocket dynamo as we say singing and sassying over the stage. I have never heard a funked up version of This Land is your Land by Woody Guthrie and their' was very good and she managed to cover Respect in her on way whilst tipping her hat to both Otis and Aretha.

Her tour dates are here https://www.kadvanentertainment.com/dapshowsfset.html

More soulful and exciting vocals can be heard on Saturday afternoon at 2:30pm on reflections on Northern Soul on www.radiomagnetic.com

It will be hard to follow last week's selection by surprise guest Neil Henderson (Hideaway). If you missed it, check his play list here

And listen to Neil's choice by clicking on 2005-10-01 here

But I suppose I'll have too.

We will have a great mix of sixties and beyond soul, R&B, and some Bugalu. Check out the gig guides as supplied by www.soulscotland.com and www.northern-soul.com and we'll be looking at the top ten highest priced northern souls on e bay this weekend...

I'm off to Goodfoot at the Riverside Club tonight. Following our as Recommended by The New York Times feature ( https://tinyurl.com/akk9j )I wonder if it will have any affect on our attendances. Well not the ordinary punters there's not that many Glaswegians read the NYT. Maybe an increased turn out from DJ's wishing to be associated with the tag. Anyway booked a long time ago Paul Molloy (Friday Street) is the guest tonight and he will be accompanied by resident DJ (Fraser Dunn (Refractions -Soul All sorts 1:30 Sunday on www.radiomagnetic.com) and regular Felonious Munk (as recommended by The Peoples Friend)
