Just back from the Horse & Groom, ...... what a fabulous way to spend a Sunday afternoon ...... great music, really laid back atmosphere, very 'weekender-ish', nice grub, nice people, nigh on perfect for a warm sunny Sunday afternoon.

Thanks to all those who've put the time & effort over the last two & half years? or so.

We'll be back :)

Yes another cracking day at the H & G with another full house and a superb mix of music including 2 excellent guest spots from Grav and John.

Well done to Sharon and every one involved in raising over £1,000 over the weekend for a very worth charity

I think Joe, Bri and Co either lost the pen, ran out of paper or just couldn't be arsed to list the tunes played later on but heres what they gave me for the first few hours, hope others will add more later, not sure if both guests are on SS but if they are it would be good to see your plays (maybe John M could contact John A for his) ........

Well, just got home after a weekend of soul and still thrilled at the opportunity to DJ at the Horse & Groom. Yep, I was nervous but settled right in thanks to the friendly, knowledgeable and appreciative crowd. Having guested at Darnall Horti, Sheffield on Friday it was great to be able to play two sets of a totally different nature.

Many thanks for asking me to DJ, it was a pleasure and one for the book I'll probably never get around to writing.

All the best to all the friends we met and the new ones we made, hope to see you again soon!

Here's my playlist, in order played, from 4-5 pm:

Midwest Franchise - I'll Be Around (MCA)

James Phelps - The Look On Your Face (Apache)

Clyde McPhatter - Anyone Can Tell We're In Love (Decca LP track)

Betty Everett - You're Falling In Love (UNI LP Track)

The Bottle Topps - Ain't Love Trouble (Pink Bird)

Ike Strong - I Owe My Life To You (Bama)

Rozetta Johnson - Mine Was Real (Clinton)

Miles Jaye - Heaven (4th & Broadway)

Loveman Ronnie Stokes - Touch You Again (Philly Town 12")

Randy Brown - I'm Always in The Mood (Parachute)

Willie Pickett - On The Stage Of Life (Soul Spot)

Oscar Perry - I Got What You Need (Peri-Tone)

Barbara Lynn - This Is The Thanks I Get (Atlantic)

Milton And Winston - You Lied (Falstaff)

Ray Camacho & The Teardrops - Lonely Town (Copper State)

Dee Dee Warwick - Don't Think My Baby's Coming Back (Tiger)

Robert Parker - Caught You In A Lie (Nola)

Tony Middleton - Spanish Maiden (Storm)

Emorise Kelly - The Biggest Fool (Peacock)

Deena Johnson - The Breaking Point (Wile Deuce)

Marva Josie - Don't (UA)

Kittens from Grav, and Milton & Winston from John were the stand out tunes from the guests, but all their and the residents playlists tell you what a great mix of quality and genuine across the board soul is on offer at the H&G.

P.s thanks to Mick for playing Everyday People

I miss sitting in the comfy leather chair with a decent pint of guinness of three getting a higher education in rare soul music and being in the company of like minded individuals. If you've never been to the H&G then make the effort, it's well worth the trip.

I shall return !!!
