IN THE TRADITION OF THESE OLD SHOES AND SOUL IN THE CITY

Need a hit of out beloved music to keep you going til the weekend? Try Fleet Street Soul Club, at London's newest venue.

First date Wednesday 11th May 6.30 - 11.30. FREE BEFORE 8PM £5 AFTER

Resident DJs: WARREN BOOGALOO, PAUL McKAY, NICK & DAWN BROWN & CHRIS DALE

The venue is Arnold's and is at the top of Bride lane just off Fleet Street (Blackfriars Bridge end). Wooden dance floor, draft beers, pub prices and a brilliant sound system combine to make this a worthy addition to the scene. With reasonable numbers through the door we have an option to run monthly and possibly add occasional Saturday nights as well. Plus In an effort to bring new blood and to keep the music fresh the residents will work on a rota basis and there will be a guest spot each month up for grabs.

We know there are lots of you out there bursting to share your favourites and so we will also be holding one or two open deck sessions between 6.30 and 7.30 in order to let you have your moment in the spot light. We intend to try and choose future guests form those trying out.

Your support will, inevitably, be the difference between success and failure so please come down on the 11th and see what you think. If you want to take advantage of one of the open deck spots please get in touch with Paul by PM only please.

Just to add some info that we were being asked about at SHS on Friday - the nearest station to the venue is Blackfriars and it is is less than a ten minute walk from St.Pauls, Farringdon and Chancery Lane.

For those coming straight from work, there is a pub on either corner of Bride lane and Fleet Street and both do food. The Sugar Loaf, which is the one on Bride Lane seems to have te best write ups. For those coming later the venue will put food on if we think there will be enough demand.

City Thameslink is just around the corner too and actually closer than Blackfriars!

Warren and Peter went up to town yesterday to get the equipment set up as arranged with the venue owner. The owner failed to turn up angry.gif. The guys found an ad for a Latvian duo appearing at the club. This morning the owner claimed there'd been a mix up!

As a result I'm afraid we have had to call the night off. Apologies to anyone who was thinking of coming along.

Don't you think the Latvian duo will be any good then Den?

I second that "Bummer" and was looking forward to it; try and grab another gaff.

Ady

It's not that. I've already seen them, they were quite good actually. :lol:laugh.gif

Just fancied a night out listening to good Soul music.
