Being that I've not been a member for too long, I wondered how many of you members of a Northen soul site were actually from the North, now that "Our Thing" has become global.

I'm a Salford Lad wot escaped to Heywood. So come it's only a bit of fun.

Cheers

Tony

Tony, Why don't you do a poll.. makes it easier and less public.. I mean some people might not want to admit they're from the North.. Hey Hey :)

But seriously.. Just click on the NEW POLL button at the bottom right of this topic and follow a couple of simple steps.

Hi Tony

I live in Abergavenny south wales and you would be suprised to see the amount of people that are in to Northern Soul scene from South and west Wales, and think nothing to traveling 2.5 - 4 hours for a night out (once took me 7.5 hours to get to Whitby, what fantastic roads we have )

Sheffield born and bred for me too but only 30 years unlike Brett's 40! lol

I get the impression that most folk on this forum are from the South. I am sure in time that more from the north will get involved. They have only just got rid of the cobbles on the M1 up here and some people still wave at aeroplanes. You dont see people throwing bread up at helicopters much these days so things must be progressing.

In the middle; where the world's got piles, "Riot Town" Boston in Lincs. Bought a one way ticket out many years ago. Saying that it has been the stomping ground for several "Soulies" including Andy Rix, Nigel Parker, Chris Modley, Dave Appleyard, Steve Handbury & now Paul 'Gazza' Gasgoine! And my mother, who loves J. D. Bryant and Paul Anka becuase he wrote "My Way"!!

And another Sheffield born soulster here. I left for Rotherham at the tender age of three (some walk) and stayed there until Derby at eight and Market Harborough my spiritual home at twelve. The drift south continued in 1970 to St Pancras and I've been half London and half Harboro in varying degrees ever since.

I recently visited a soul guru up in Rotherham, t'other week and it was only 5 mins walk from my old house. Unfortunately the area's still rather nice, which ruins the first two chapters of my autobiography. I'll have to get on the crack sharpish or it'll never sell.

Ady i do believe you told me some time ago that your father was a Sheffield United man, what a fine and wonderful choice.

Nothing to be proud of. Wednesday till I die!
