Go Go Children Bristol Sat 6Th August

Recommended Posts

after the numbers had been down for the last couple of months we were hopeing for a bit more this month although the students had all gone home for the summer so still werent sure even though wed had good reponse on facebook,we didnt expect the 120 we got though!!

the first 60 got there hands on one of the new cds desribed to me since as the best so far of the 9 weve done, although there wasnt much room the dancefloor was busy most of the night to uptempo 60s rnb and northern on the whole with a short break for some ska and boss reggae for the dozen or so skinheads who were there and had waited patiently and made the effort with there sharp clothes.my playlist is in that section

No guest this month as we cant afford the cd and guest(well maybe in dec as its xmas!)so we all got extra time on the decks,i started this time with ian mcree doing one set after me and then me and john alternating, john finishing at about 5 past 2 although the club had thinned down by then,a lot of people burned themselves out to quick in the heat i think,we still had dancers right to the end.

So a big thanx if you were there especially the travellers from sth wales, taunton and gloustershire.if you werent we do it all agin on the first saturday of sept with guest mick lloyd from worcester and we might run a few more cds off too as so many missed out but only a few so if youre coming dont be late!

Great night again.

Have to say this is a breath of fresh air for us. Music is quality 60s and not full of oldies. This must be down to the mix of crowd. Locals, students, travelling soulies, old torch boys, full on Skinheads, couples out for the night, rockabillies, scooterists, music fans etc etc.

With a mix like that there is no formula needed, no safe records required, no blinkered "soulies" moaning about too much R&B and shouting "play something we know". If the DJ wanted to play it, it got played and he had to stand by it, good, bad or mid tempo.

It was packed in there but a great atmosphere. Everyone just enjoying the music for what it was.

You forgot 'mods' !

Glad you had a good time - thanks for coming down. It was a bit hot in there for a bit though!

Will put up a playlist later on...

Feel guilty that I didn't make this night again!!!!! Hope to be up for September (even though I'll be a bit groggy after Friday's Gloucester Allnighter, though) - really, really rate this night, and glad it was a packer!!!

Des Parker

Be good to see you in September mate!
