Hipshaker...isle Of Wight

well what a day it turned out to be...the team had arrived at mine by midday and after copious amounts of tea and coffee

and various rolls sorted by my better half the motor was loaded and we were on our way.....bit worried when johns sat nav had an irish accent as it was determined to send us the wrong way...we eventually arrived about 20 mins before our departure time

it was a short crossing as we had decided to go from pompey so as to save on the cost of travel....within an hour of leaving the dock we were enjoying a great lunch in a nice pub in fishbourne...we arrived at the venue and set up various banners and decided to go for a walk to shake off any cobwebs

on arriving back at the venue i was informed by the promoters i had set up in the wrong room and we were moved out into the large marquee in the carpark......a lot larger then where we had originally been

after soundchecks and a run through of the equipment the night got underway....i did the first hour and was followed by wigan brian who did a sterling job...well done mate...next up was myself and johnny "h" from the groovejunkies we decided to do a 30 minute motown set and left big al and keith williams with a few ppl on the floor

30 mins later and it was johns hour long stint behind the decks and the night was well and truly underway..the venue was now filling up nicely and the mixture of soulies and scooterists waisted no time in hitting the floor..great stuff john

big al of soul cake fame..the venue not the food..was next up and played some great tunes and proved that many scooterists had moved on from...the cheese and the overplayed tunes they get associated with....many thanks al

last but by no means least was keith williams from crewe and as he played my all time fave tune i was very happy..keith also played lotsa tunes not really associated with the scooter scene

all in all an excellent day and many thanks to all the very nice comments from everyone during the night

great to see dave and sue, little ian and ciara, pete tebbutt, gary and anne todd and the sussex soul regulars...lotsa babes on show too

thanks to all the djs for making the night a big success...playlists and you tubes to follow

regards moldie

Thank you Mick for asking me down to spin some tunes , although the floor wasn`t seeing much action ,I was informed this was the norm , and that the floor wouldn`t get moving for a few hours, phew! unfortunately I couldn`t stick around to see this happen as I was D.J.ing in a bar down the road for Alfie`s Southampton soul club ,who had appeared at the Hipshaker on the Friday night .

I was on the decks from 9 till 9.45 ( playlist to follow ) and after I finished my set I went for a look round the venue ,and was pleasantly surprised to see about 100 or so in the bar area ,with plenty more in the foyer ,and was again told it would start filling up rapidly from then on , I then had to leave to trek down to the Marine bar ( note to self ,get wheels for record box ! ) So I cant comment on the rest of the night ,but without doubt the tunes the four D.J.s have must have guaranteed a top top night

Once again thanks to Moldie for asking me down and I`ll look forward to seeing Mick`s pic`s and youtube

cheers! WiganBrian .

thanks moldie ........ quicker off the mark than me!!

a great job was done by you all, specially as we were a bit lighter on numbers sunday night ........ only about 600 in and its a big venue with 5 different areas all told.

saturday was sold out, with friday almost there. we had a great weekend overall ..... cheers to anyone who attended and obviously big thanks to our DJs, including the three guest clubs & DJs (southampton soul club, talk of the south soul club and of course lightwater soul club and respective guests) for bringing quality northern soul to our bit of rally.
