I'm watching "The Boys"

Last episode to view today.

just finished it ...

avoiding spoilers so just say thought a great series

checked out any word on season 2

Quote

talk about The Boys season 2 and what fans can look forward to. They revealed they just watched the rough cut of the season 2 premiere, which Goldberg called, “definitely better than the first season,” noting that “immediately it just looks a bit better. It feels bigger. The actors all know what they’re doing.”

Rogen went on to say:

“They already have more resources for the second season and they’re adding more characters. The scope of the show organically grows as the show continues.”

I haven't checked on new series though I figured there would be another.

Too many to watch as it is.  "Manifest" right now and then there's "The Rain" and about three others I'm watching on Netflix. Plus "Preacher" has started again.

And final season of "Man in the High Castle" I'm hoping is soon.

Enjoyed Manifest - watched it over the past couple of weeks

netflix films here or in the upcoming films topic?

guess as on tv then this place may be the best...

Academy Award nominee Eddie Murphy portrays real-life legend Rudy Ray Moore, a comedy and rap pioneer who proved naysayers wrong when his hilarious, obscene, kung-fu fighting alter ego, Dolemite, became a 1970s Blaxploitation phenomenon.

Peaky Blinders is back.

It looks right, sounds good is very well put together and performed. And yet.......I dunno, some of the storylines are utterly ridiculous, Tommy's ability to distance himself from all sorts of wrongdoing becomes ever more bizarre, while the intrusive music and slo mo shots are becoming just a bit tiresome.

One series too many?

Thoroughly enjoyed the latest series of Peaky Blinders, not as simplistic a plot as series 4, and with a real historical character as an adversary that died of natural causes in 1980's there was never going to be a clean series finale. Long wait until 2021 for the next series.

Really enjoying "Capture" on BBC 1. Best new series I have watched in a very long time.

released today

El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie (Trailer)

Been hooked on Bodies, on iPlayer.  A dark drama, with displaced comedic undertones, about ethical dilemmas facing obs and gynae hospital staff when things go wrong, which they most definitely do.

Not for the squeamish or feint hearted, lots of graphic, no holds barred scenes of women's parts, child birth, caesarian sections, torrents of blood, etc and screaming women with their legs in the air.  Having watched the entire two series, I think I could deliver twins and perform a CS myself now!!  It does come with a very stark warning from the outset, and rightly so.

There's a completely wet through incompetent consultant battling for power with a competent, but badly behaved, consultant who is actually hilarious in a very dark way. He's a sex pest for a start but has a genuine soft spot and respect for his colleague, Polly, who as much as she supports the guy, knocks his clumsy advances and innuendo back constantly.   His personal car number plate is VAG and he has a very chilling demeanour.   He's a likeable rogue.

In the middle of this is a young registrar, who is constantly torn between whistleblowing and his desire to become a consultant.  He also embarks on a sexual, friends with benefits, relationship with the married ward sister, so plenty of romping and apres-action fag smoking!

Great characters, good story line, some very funny moments... and pretty addictive.

Saw this at the movies, it’s really good. Shows a whole other side to black American culture. The costumes were great too and even a cameo from Bobby Rush !!!

It’s hard to find a drama as engrossing and unpredictable as what’s happening in Westminster but right now I’m loving catching up on ‘Broad City’ on prime and ‘Terrace House’ is back on Netflix. I think the best TV of recent years was ‘Chernobyl’, just finished it, incredible !

Anybody watched “I am the blues “ on Amazon, fantastic doc with bobby rush and a real treat with Barbara Lynn making an appearance at home strumming, and the locals praising her talents .

anyone watching 'Guilt' on BBC, turning out a most enjoyable series

C4's 'End of the fxxxxxx world' also gets a thumbs up

I tried to watch that appletv 'See' as was free and seemed high production values but the whole 'everyone is blind' thing was just too much of a jump for me

anyone caught the above or have anything else to watch out for?

am currently knee deep in current watches here

Picard - how old is he now? so far this star trek take seems to work well

The Stranger - has a similar feel to a recent netflix uk series - good so far

The Vikings - am still watching after 6 or 7 years, is this the last series now?

all worth a look over if you are not aware

any other tips?

Picard certainly seems to have potential, although I despair at the "we can't take you seriously - you're just an old man" attitude that's so prevalent. I do wish scriptwriters could get past this tired old ageist cliche on TV and in movies.

Vikings is still very entertaining, and I'll see this final series out, but it was never the same after they killed off Ragnar Lothbrook. That said, I do like how the plot - about the world of the VIkings rapidly changing - echoes the uncertain and changing times we live in today.

Must admit that for the last 12 months or so, our TV habits (well, we don't actually have a TV and instead watch stuff via computer) have become retro. We not long ago finished "binge watching" Midsomer Murders from start to finish, are currently doing the same with Poirot (David Suchet), and have just started Foyles War, a series that neither of us here have ever seen.

Curb Your Enthusiasm new series - is yet another current 'must watch' here

Still getting thru 'The Stranger', though not convinced about this as it seems everything and anything is connected

Vikings - The first half of the last season finished this week, on a major story development - returns sep/oct 2020 (tbc)

Have just read two 'musts' are returning this month, both on Netflix...

Better Call Saul
24 February
Better Call Saul makes its way into a fifth season, with Bob Odenkirk's transformation from small-time lawyer Jimmy McGill to the criminal-for-hire conman Saul Goodman still looming large. There's the promise of more Breaking Bad crossovers this series, too, while the backstories of notorious drug kingpin Gus Fring and henchman Mike Ehrmantraut are further fleshed out.

Narcos: Mexico
13 February

The ripple effects of DEA agent Kiki Camerena’s death continue as the spinoff of Netflix's cartel saga returns. Tensions between Felix Gallardo’s (Diego Luna) cartel and the DEA reach breaking point, as Scoot McNairy’s narrator Walt Breslin is tasked with the smooth running of Operation Layenda, in a reprisal that's tense and action-packed as ever.

I really liked this and would recommend trying to get it in it's totality so you can have good binge watch. The end is a bit ambiguous, probably on purpose. More to come?

anyone caught this yet

worth a go?

"A diverse band of Nazi hunters living in 1977 New York City discover hundreds of high-ranking Nazi officials are conspiring to create a Fourth Reich in the U.S. The eclectic team will set out on a bloody quest to bring them to justice."

I wouldn't bother with this after the first few minutes. As it was only released yesterday, I think, I'll not go into detail and let you make up your own minds, but not for me.

stumbled upon this on C4's App last nite in the walter section

https://www.channel4.com/programmes/just-one-look/episode-guide

Just One Look

 subtitles

French action thriller about secrets, lies and murder based on a Harlan Coben novel. Eva's middle-class contented life breaks apart when her husband vanishes. She must risk all to find him.

its similar to the same geezers 'the stranger' and 'safe' but better so far...

worth a go imo

No spoilers from me but the opening scene was enough to get my attention ... real quick ...

Shan't be watching it on Sky but that's another story I'll keep to myself for fear of another slap ... :hypocrite:
