I agree - Pat was up there with the best in the 80's - mixing oldies, 60's newies and modern side by side. He used to have a half decent review section in Black Echoes too - early 80's.

Agreed.

I believe more quality records were introduced to the scene after Wigan shut.

(....pause for bricks been thrown....)

Somewhere in the garage there are a couple of Live at the TOTW tapes.

See if I can dig them out.

I am very interested in seeing/hearing George's sets.

I always liked Mr Sharp and think he is often forgotten. and under recognised.

Him and Mr Pearson used to promote some very innovative nights in Bradford in the early 80s.

Very educational/inspirational and sparked my passage from routine club classic sounds to rare/newies.

Keep up the good work

Hi Chalky,

I paid a visit to the garage on saturday......I had a root in the boxes containing the tapes.

good news is there are probably 100 or so.......bad news is about half don't have track listings.

I have dug a couple out with track listings.

Its a job for someone with more patience and inclination than I possess

:)

pm me if you want to know from who etc.

best regards

The first three podcast are already up.  It will take some time to upload the 40 odd podcasts.  These can still be viewed on the web site which will be moving to a new host soon as well.

Hi Chalky

I can't get the pictures in rogues gallery to work properly - when you click on them to enlarge the image it just goes to a blank screen?

Peter

PS - It's just some of the images mate.

As we speak, I'm listening on my phone to these (it has unlimited internet unlike at home - but quite good acoustics too).

I can't tell you how much I'm enjoying the George Sharp sets. Totally brilliant - knockout - awesome.

Your obvious massive effort and knowledge in compiling all these podcasts makes them priceless.

Thank you - fabulous stuff - just looking forward to the next one

Cheers

Chalky, seriously you ought to be inducted into the NS Hall of Fame for the work you've done here, I don't like all of the music, but so what, to produce a historical record like this and then back it up with the tunes as well, it's just an amazing piece of work and an absolute education.  One of these days I'll download the lot.  I really appreciate the work you've done here and hopefully everyone else will agree that this is one of the best things ever to appear on Soul Source.

Take a bow Son  :D

Thank you so much for the kind words Pete, means a lot.

I wouldn't expect anyone to like all the records, even I don't like all the records but it is about a bit more than that, or I would like to think it is.  Stafford like any other venue had its share of turkeys but they have to be included for accuracy.

Again thanks.

P.S.  Somehow I don't think you will like the last one  :D  or the next

Agree with Pete. Until I downloaded these podcasts I'd never heard Ree Flores, Eric Mercury, Jesse Henderson … the list goes on. So cheers Chalky and seasons greetings to you.

Best
