The Champ

Is this the finest Boogaloo Album ever created - we think so! includes track after track of hammond grooves to drive the dancer to exhaustion.

Soundfile tracks we've chosen only tell part of the magic-musical-menu this 12 track monster album gives up 1. The Champ 2. Hip Jigger 3. Sweet Soul Music 4. Dr Jekyll & Hyde Park 5. Baby Hold On 6. Funky Broadway 7. Beat Me Till I'm Blue etc. etc. etc.

This offering is of course the immensely coveted 1968 UK press. Vinyl and labels is condition is a spectacular Mint - cover only reveals slightest sign of handling. The chances of finding a finer one, would border on an impossible quest.

Jimmy Ruffin

What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted C/w Baby I've Got It

After much-persuasion this record became a life-changing performance for Jimmy Ruffin after the first frustrating five years with Motown failed to provide Jimmy with a significant hit.

A composition originally scheduled for The Spinners, Jimmy managed to convince William Mickey Stevenson he was the guy for the job; how right he was, as to this day almost 5 decades on, this Top 10 hit is still considered one of Motown's iconic 45s.

Before you today is the ridiculously RARE 1966 UK Red & white DEMO in absolutely flawless condition, both labels and vinyl are MINT-.

Do not overlook the killer Northern Soul flipside, that during 1966 to 1971 was a hugely popular Al-Niter / MOD club spin - that has recently made something of a revival.

You will not find a rarer TMG Red & White and certainly not in finer condition

Tomorrow & Always C/w A Love That Can Never Be

You are viewing the incredibly rare 1961 original version with NO STRINGS!

In 1961 Robert Bateman & Janie "Money" Bradford gave Carole King & Jerry Goffin's lyrics a Detroit twist! An answer song to the Shirelles - Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow - that New York's "Scepter" took great exception to. It was apparently WITHDRAWN from sale and became one of the ultimate Motown "Stripes" to try and acquire, that was the "full string section" backing version.

It was not until "Motown-Heads" later in the 60s discovered there was another different "take" WITHOUT STRINGS. Before you today is that version - incredibly rare conversation piece for many years that few actually own.

Listen and enjoy a piece of legendary Motown history.

Looking For You

Just how many flipsides did the 60s Brit-Soulboys discover and transform into all-time Northern Soul classics. Ironically this 1966 Jerry Ragovoy project would have languished in total obscurity for eternity, if it wasn't for the relentless vinyl-foraging of the curious and dedicated "Wheelers".

You are viewing this timeless classic in not only it's most-elusive format but in the type of condition British Soul collecting dreams are made of. This copy came from a long-term MOD collection and was purchased by the previous owner as a "new release". Original sleeve intact and vinyl that only reveals a brief sleeve brush blemish or two. MINT minus and definitely never encountered a Northern Soul DJ or turntable.

Rare British Northern Soul collecting does not get any more satisfying than this.

Robert Paladino in his wildest dreams could never have envisaged a late 60s writing and producing this session in New York, would rivet 1000s of curious Wigan Casino voyeurs into a lifetime of Northern Soul dedication.

It was after all the experience of hearing and dancing to records of this quality at your Wigan Casino initiation, that brought you and your friends back week after week, until you were completely addicted.

Imagine for a moment of an incessant Radio diet of Paper Lace - Billy Don't Be a Hero, Gary Glitter - I'm The Leader Of The Gang, Mud - Tiger Feet or Slades - Come On Feel The Noise...

Then imagine the weekend and a hot Dance Temple steaming from mesmerized gyrating teenagers - then the DJ drops the needle on this masterpiece !!!

Robert Paladino, yes you really did change 1000's of young Brits Saturday nights into something special.

Before you, and ready for Christmas is the highly-coveted ultimately rareWHITE DEMO in fine clean condition. So much more than a memento of the best days of your life; NORTHERN SOUL - IS A WAY OF LIFE!

Toni Washington

Good Things

Stand back - Toni Washington is about to enter your life!

Rarely these days do you hear sassy, potent Northern Soul of this calibre. It's a screamer from the streets of New Orleans "Conti Street" to be exact. Nice play on words for the label logo, underlining just how street level and localized this colourful offering is.

Written by Toni Washington herself creating the perfect vehicle for her gravel throated vocal. Lively delivery, is pushed further by a shrill girl-group backing, all riding a New Orleans army of horns. It's a STOMPER - it's proper on the money Northern Soul - it's rare and it a guaranteed undiluted floor-destroyer.

Not only a NS Classic hunters trophy, but also for those looking for the seriously rare but "fresh" tunes, listen to the full soundfile and you'll be wondering why this "hidden" Northern Soul gem on the flipside has been missed by all of us....

Jimmy Ruffin

Don't Feel Sorry For Me

Soon after leaving his Gospel roots, Jimmy joined Berry Gordy's burgeoning Motown Hitsville studios to earn a living from session singing. Before you today was his very first Motown single for which he wrote both sides.

Raynoma Gordy guided David's older brother through these soulful sessions that completely failed to register sales. Decades later the British Northern Soul recognized it's dancefloor potential, for to rise into an extremely popular floor-packer. In recent times this 45 has again become very difficult to acquire - in fact this promo is our first of it's kind for quite some years.

Vinyl does have some very light surface marks but as you can hear it plays beautifully loud, clean and clear. With that infectious twist with the brass section perfectly complimenting Jimmy's enthusiastic vocal your listening to no frills, prissy pandering to white folks, Detroit Northern Soul stormer!!

Silly Girl

Along with the likes of Quin Ivy, Dan Penn, Marlin Greene, Spooner Oldham - Mickey Buckins is rightly heralded as one of the great influential writer, producers of Southern Soul.
