I Don't Like To Lose

This coming Christmas some very, very lucky Northern Soul addict may be opening a packet to reveal a NS GRAIL in PERFECT condition.

We could write a book on how Richard Searling had jaws-dropping and other DJ's turning 40 shades of green, when this Michigan Mover was first aired at The Wigan Casino, a brief click of the soundfile and relive the opposite emotions of the dancers and Richard's competition must have felt.

But the equally staggering sales pointer about this listing - it is a true MINTunplayed until the soundfile was harvested. To witness condition of this standard on a record of such importance - is quiet frankly thrilling! To receive it for Christmas would be a once in a lifetime experience.

Come on girls how much do you love your man?

Ken Williams

Come Back C/w Baby If You Were Gone

At last this Okeh jewel is receiving the Northern Soul turntable time it has long since deserved and it's on the way up! A 100% Ken Williams project displays his huge writing and producing skills to the full.

I've recently taken my collection copy and transferred it to my DJ box, sparking a label voyeurs to rush the decks. Surprising really because it's qualities have been admire by the Old School soulies for literally decades.

Click the soundfile and you'll be wondering why this doesn't carry the "Classic" status "Seven Souls" "Tan Geers" "Sandi Sheldon" etc enjoys. It really is that darn good - and if that wasn't enough the flipside is one helluva tune also...

This copy is totally flawless in every respect, you'll not find a better one.

Dust My Broom

WHITE PROMO aficianados check your collection now.

In the popular long running debate of the rarest WHITE PROMO Northern Soul classic 45. Let us throw this one into the hat.

This is the FIRST PRESS Tangerine 967 vinyl press PROMO. Our 12 year old data file on this title says NO PROMO COPIES during that period - before that my memory fails me. It is certainly without question a very elusive promo - that when the debate fires up will surprise many on just how rare it.

Condition of both labels are totally flawless! Vinyl has a couple of light surface blemishes - it's a beauty!

Luther Ingram

Run For Your Life C/w I Need You Now

Robert Bateman's association with Luther Ingram created one of the all time Top Ten Northern Soul anthems when they laid down the "If It's All The Same To You" c/w "Exus Trek" tracks for HIB. To this day considered "As Good As It Gets Northern Soul"

Before you today is another Bateman/Ingram pairing that again created two killer Northern soul tracks - Robert's embryonic Detroit career honing skills with partner Brian Holland at Motown - this is a "Brainbert" project.

A-side is a grinding gravel-strewn-journey into the deep moody depths of Luther Ingram's soul, constantly prompted by a Mike Terry-esque baritone sax, blaring horns, tinkling Earl Van Dyke style keyboard work all dissolve into a Detroit Northern Soul dancer without one commercial note being played. This is street-level individualism bordering on genius.

If that were not enough - just flip it over - WOW it's ever revolution as good!

So much rarer than their HIB 45 - but has languished in the lower reaches of value even though this is one very difficult 45 to capture, all down to lack ofNS exposure.

Future potential for a value hike for this sleeper - quite frankly is glaringly obvious.

Some vinyl is just pure "Pop-Art" of the most alluring kind!

Drool over the fabulous laminated picture cover, that iconic "plum" Brit-Atlantic label, gaze upon this ladies beauty, and it becomes obvious why we're all incurably addicted to vinyl stalking!

One of the Queens of 50s R&B, strode into the 60s to give the Northern Soul collectors some recordings to cherish. This incredibly rare 1964 UK EPsports 4 tracks

  • Saved 2. I cried A Tear 3. Manana 4. See See Rider.

I Can't Please You

Without question of on the most-difficult real-deal Northern Soul British releases to acquire, ridiculously rare, in truly Mint minus condition, we'd suggest in the year 2011- it is near impossible.

Click the soundfile - to experience the most-powerful Northern Soul R&B session ever put to vinyl. The USA copy is of course reasonably common. But let us assure you very few people indeed, own this 1966 original UKpress of a recording of towering turntable presence!

Condition, Condition, Condition!! - SERIOUSLY RARE we only need to say, it once.

Benny Spellman

Walk On Don't Cry C/w Please Mr. Genie

RARE!! very rare New Orleans popcorn flavoured Northern Soul.

Benny rose to fame with his "Fortune Teller" but was finding it very difficult to hit with any follow-ups - his next two Minit 45 releases failed miserably. Two years later he was recording for the street-level Crescent City label Watch, with even less success, but it did provide the hunter for the really obscure, with this winner offering two deliciously typical sounds of the city.

It's no surprise that both sides crafted by Wardell Quezergue and offer that mysterious "Popcorn" style arrangement that creeps under your skin. BOTHsides are gorgeous mid-pacer that drip with potential. Check out the soundfile - you'll love it. Give the label scan a long gaze - not many can say they've seen it before.

Only You (can Feel The Loss)

In the true tradition of girl-vocal Northern Soul this Cincinnati rarity from the desk of the prolific Kenny Smith has all the traits of a dancefloor winner.

Reminiscent vocally to Laine Hill, Dana Valery, Judy Street etc. After the slow start intro, Kenny Smith drills a drum-roll intervention adds a brass section and a team of girls cooing and oohing then adding an uplifting chorus. This is just great girly Northern Soul with an ingredient that always heightens Northern Soul passion - the Baritone Saxophone subtlety as it prompts and prods the proceedings.

We just love it - seldom heard, seldom seen and bristling with potential.

Bobby Bland

Cry Cry Cry C/w I've Been Wrong So Long

There are RARE British Soul 45, then there are British 45s that you haven't seen, touched or heard for decades. We are not ashamed to admit this is our only our 2nd.copy in memory and our finest condition copy ever!

Before you today is a genius at work - this is Bobby Bland's FIRST UK 45 showcasing a Soul/Blues master at work. Top side is a tortured statement delivered like only Bobby Blue Bland could. Flip it over the pace goes up a notch but the hurt remains the same, as he grapples with a Ray Agee & Don Roby Malone composition.

This 45 underlines why this man rose to become a legend in his own lifetime - this is by far his rarest British 45 - condition could only be finer in Heaven.

Valentinos C/w Simms Twins

Double Barrelled Soul

The chances of owning this remarkable 1968 UK ONLY album in Mint - / Mint - condition are so remote, it hurts to think about it.

Dave Godin's highly-coveted Soul City label had the required "Soul-Passion" to release the Los Angeles SAR label's two major artists on one LP. Their admirable passion for the music, was inevitably met by such poor sales - that this album is rarely, if ever seen for sale.

So one in this PERFECT condition is something of a LP Brit-Grail. The track listing from this match made in "Soul City Heaven" speaks for itself.

Soundfiles are just a snippet of the quality, held within...

Doctor Love + 3

Listen and prepare to be impressed by this 25 year old Welshman's penchant for SOUL!

Hidden away as the first track on the flipside of this 1965 FRENCH EP is a stunning slab of Northern Soul - check out "Doctor Love" you'll love it! You'll also adore the top-flight quality of the French vinyl, which has some light surface marks but as you can hear plays strong, clean and true and as always of course the high-quality of the picture covers.

Double Life C/w Turn To Me

"Black" certainly is beautiful, isn't it! The Northern Soul collectors penchant for the 60s "black" label stock copies has never been stronger. You are viewing one of the rare examples of that genre and this one has the bonus of offering two equally potent Northern Soul dancers.

Topside was of course a Wigan Casino stompin' anthem, the flip went unnoticed for decades but has recently gained an enthusiastic band of followers and is now considered, just as, if not more desirable as the "A"

Two great tunes in it's rarest and most attractive form.

Not sure what the point of this discussion is, the records sold for almost twice as much as it's actually worth, just because it's in 'mint' condition still doesn't make it worth 2 grand.

I'll leave you to it...
