Brid Or Whitby Weekender - We Can't Decide

I've managed to persuade Mrs Ian 1930 to go to either the Bridlington or Whitby weekender (but not both) this summer but we can't decide which one to go to.

We went to our first weekender in Scarborough last October and mostly enjoyed it. We regularly go to Brighouse Ritz, Harold Club in Bradford, Eggborough, Drax etc so are used to a diet of mainly oldies with a little R&B here and there. We don't mind a bit of modern but wouldn't spend a huge time in a purely modern room. Socialising / buying records etc. is as important to us as dancing.

Could anyone give us an objective view of the two events to help us decide which one to attend?

Thanks!

lol ... when I saw the title I thought pleeeeeeease not that again lol . I see you you are new to posting in the forum , and I take on board that you are quite innocent in asking this question.

We go through this every year , you can't ask that question and get a non biased answer. Its impossible each poster will be biased to their own needs.

Please save us from the tit for tat that can happen with threads like this and do the research on the internet and compare what is on offer in each town that suits your speciifc needs they are both great weekenders and if you are lucky enough to afford it I would suggest you do both.

You could also look at playlists for the two events for last year and then make a sound judgement... or do one this year and do the other one next year .

I always trust my own judgement , a weekender is a big financial commitment so trust your own instinct ..plus you have to think of your partners needs too :)

Good luck and whatever you choose I hope its an enjoyable break.

Judging by the places you visit, I'd say go to Brid!!

We go each year, and it is a very social weekender, lot's of time spent meeting up in the pub opposite the Spa.

The main room is oldies, the same as Scarborough, there's a Soul Club Room, R&B Room, Rare & Underplayed Room, and a modern room to choose from, so you can always find something you fancy listening to.

Lots of record dealers, clothes, paintings, and other stuff for sale on the balcony, and it's in Brid!

If you liked Scarborough, you'll love Brid, easier to stick to the type of music you enjoy most, and easy enough to wander between the rooms when you fancy a bit of everything!

Mind you, I do love Whitby!!

To Ian the topic starter, judging by the places you visit then either will satisfy what gou want, both main rooms are oldies by and large, nothing new. Might be an idea to visit the respective websites for more details.

Now I can't see any good coming from this topic, insults from one side already so closing the topic. Both events have full details in the event section or should have.

If the promoters could keep out and both grow up then will reopen.
