I wonder if the Low Riders ponder our existence? Imagine telling them about the Jim Wray Lounge at Yarmouth!

I guested at the last Southern Soulspinners event, in West Covina.....those cats really know their stuff, and it was a joy to get to spin my own batch of obscurities to such a great response! &

The Village Choir - Talk To Me Sometimes is a great record that can be picked cheaply.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mike a few years ago.....really a super nice, very funny fellow. A great memory, f'sure!

Great artist Greg, on a roll now with him

Title has probably put a few off, but he turns his magic on again

Texas, and the INCREDIBLE Ovide label, one of the harder ones on the label, but IMHO, the best

Wonderful stuff Kev and from a super LP as well. Really love a lot of Johnny Brantley's work. As typical with Brantley he played around a lot with tracks on the various artists in his stable such as Gloria Barnes, Nate Adams, George Scott, Jimmy Norman, Herman Hitson, etc etc so there is always a different version and sometimes quite a few, either released or in the can somewhere. Nate Adams also recorded "I'm A Fool For You" but remained unissued.

Reputedly the wonderful Gloria Barnes with the same backing track to "I'm A Fool For You"

It's Gonna Take a Lot (To Bring Me Back Baby), a title also put out by The Icemen with but again a different backing track .. a really great record it is as well and same as The Manhattans on Deluxe

In fact on the George Scott clip you posted you'll hear at 2.05 the backing girls singing "bring me back baby"

Confusing  I know but so are all of the Johnny Brantley, Poindexters, George Kerr, Richard Tee connections

Get yer ears round Gloria mate

This 45 seems to be very rare......only ever seen this twice. Fantastic label, and without doubt, such a quality tune.....both sides!

Gloria Fowler & the Entros - Train Of Love.  I've had a couple of copies of this 45 and on both discs this side was pressed off centre whilst the Will You Be My Guy side has been spot on.   It sounds as though the uploads on youtube have the same problem to a greater or lesser degree.......so maybe most copies are like this???

Great thread!
Bought a lot of this stuff lately.
Here are some of them:

"The Ordells - Sippin' A Cup Of Coffee"

"Steve Parks - Still Thinking Of You"

And a "B-side" of a 45 I had for years but always thought was too slow. Perfect now though!
"Chappells - You're Acting Kind Of Strange"

Also just got the Kal's Kids 45. They are not just kids, but white kids!

You can really hear that they're not exactly virtuosos on their instruments too.

Usually not a fan of "kid soul" but this is just fantastic!
