Purchased this lp back in the 80s for a dance track and found this sweet soul track on it.

This is a proper falsetto vocal.

STEVE G. I had to reply to this topic on a different note..

Where do you get the idea that "tough guys take time from shooting eachother to dig for old soul music"....in your mind from what you see 1000 miles away that all chicanos from northern and southern california are gang members? The sweet soul music and motown sound along with doo wop isnt a trend with us mexican americans..its a culture...this music was language...from cruzing to sending girlfriends dedications with a special 45 with her name on it...it didnt just start one day...and today this rare soul music still lives stronger than ever over here because of the heavy hittin soul collectors who i respect very much...we pack 45 records not guns...

To revive this topic and answer the original poster's q...

The nice guys from San Fernando Valley started a weekly radio show Sounds Of Soul via Mixlr broadcasting every Saturday from 7pm to 10pm Pacific Time. Thats about 8 to 9 hours ahead of us but can be relistened via the showreel on http://mixlr.com/sounds-of-soul/showreel/

On Fridays you can tune into the Santana Oldies Show from 8pm bto 12pm Pacific Time http://m.ustream.tv/channel/thesantanashow if you don't feel like sleeping.

Both shows feature the cream of the crop of Californian sweet soul record collectors.

The Techniques IV - I Feel So Good Inside

soul source url

With regards to the above Techniques IV 45, there is some suggestion on the net that it was released in 1971 however here are two Billboard magazine articles from 1973.

56c72c47bb602_Billboard21_07_1973.PNG.b656c72c68cae16_Billboard08_09_1973.PNG.b4

Edit: I am speculating here that the label name JASINO was derived from the first 2 initials from the forenames of the board of directors JAmes (Harper), SIdney (White) and NOrman (Mason).

Hi Chris - I was there - sat round the corner and I'm not from Kettering !.  It was a great spot - whilst I did not approach you personally you will recall someone asking about the Willie Dixon - that was for my benefit - a great track, need one now.  Don't be put off - it's not the best time to go on -people starting to get ready for tea or if you are from Middlesbrough Dinner......
