Some Acetates I Just Got - Unissued?

Recommended Posts

I have just come across a bunch of interesting acetates. I haven't bothered to go all SoundForge on them to clean up the sound yet, and some of them are indeed a bit scruffy condition wise, but anyway, here you go, have a listen:

Sandra Phillips - Words - ASSOCIATED [here]

Sandra Phillips - Heaven Must Be Like This - ASSOCIATED [here]

Pride Passion & Pain - Feel So Good - ASSOCIATED [here]

Pride Passion & Pain - Bamboo - ASSOCIATED [here]

Stephanie Mills "Cookie" - Love Me Tender Baby - AUDIODISC [here]

Stephanie Mills "Cookie" - I'll Never Love Nobody Else - AUDIODISC [here]

"Corkie" (probably Stephanie Mills) - Growing Up Is Hard To Do - AUDIODISC [here]

Don French - A Little Bit Of Something - 6 WEST [here]

Don French - What Will I Do Now - 6 WEST [here]

As far as my research goes, I can't find any information about these having reached "proper" 45 release status.

The Sandra Phillips "Words" sounds great to me as far as northern dancers goes.

I know that there's a tune on Stephanie Mills first 1974 album on ABC called "I'll Never Love Nobody Else But You", but is it the same recording as on my acetate? By the way, the tape speed changes on that one is sadly on the acetate.

Is Pride Passion & Pain the "Some Kind Of Man" (on IX Chains) bunch? Sounds like it might be to my ears. "Feel So Good" is a very nice funky dancer with drum breaks, good vocals etc.

Are they all unissued?

Has anyone else recorded these tunes?

Does anyone of you know anything at all about this stuff? :wicked:

Also got some lo-fi Millie Jackson demos on an Empire Recording Corporation acetate, out of which one of the tunes is a Don French composition.

And then there's the original Bell Sound Studios acetate of Gwenn Douglass "The Picture".

etc.
