Strangest Record To Be Played On The Scene

I must admit tha Cats Eyes - Life, is the strangest record I ever heard. Im not saying its bad or anything, just that it seems completely out of place in our scene. I remember it being first played around 1975, and heard it recently and nothing has changed IMO.

My favourite strange song is Keanya Collin's Version of 'Love Bandit'. For years I thought Barnabus Collins was her husband, turns out he's a vampire from a cult TV show.

I quote:

"Soap Operas don't come much more bizarre than Dark Shadows, in fact its safe to say that it was probably the worlds first supernatural soapie. Intended to be that way from the start the series began with Victoria Winters arriving in the town of Collinsport, Maine to act as a governess for David Collins at the family home of Collinwood.

The show really picked up with the arrival of Barnabus Collins on 14 April 1967, Barnabus just happened to be a centuries old vampire of course and with his coming the show began to move into the realms of time travel with for months sometimes the action shifting to the 1700's. "

Best version too.

God don't say somebody is playing it again - yes.gif Bloody awful. Seriously any DJ that plays that today deserves stringing up.....

Has anyone mentioned the Themes yet "Hawaii 5-0" , "Afternoon of the Wino", "Colored Man", "Police story", "Outer Limits" etc......

Way about that track Mick Smith used to play -

I Put A Spell On You. I think it was Screamin Jay Hawkins

I was 18 at the time and loved it. Don't think I would say the same now though !

Great thread, reads like a horror 45s tape i put together in the late 80s..

Mickey mouse concerto (Soul Sams' La power and light c/u)

Delaney Bramlett You have no choice ( J manship @ Peterboro fleet )

Seven Dwarves ( garage punk !!)

Bill Pursell (Soul Stomping)

John Vincents' sets around '79 used to feature at least one new oddity every week at one point .

Mark Johnsons farmyard animals " beautiful place" takes some beating.

Lets bring back the weirdness to the scene, all good fun !

Got a Moons Date demo for sale......any takers at a tenner?

I can guarantee it hasnt mellowed with age....Truly sick !

The record I can't get my head around is Janice - Skip Mahony?, seems out of place with the 'comedy' bit half way through. (bit like Jimmy Castor , Alvin Cash records from a few years ago) As a young lad of 15 in 1970, I remember playing 'Jamie' (Eddie Holland I think) from the 'Motown Memories' LP I had bought & thinking it was hilarious, sounded ancient. Sure enough I love it now- Ade

Check out; Pompeii Club by Sammy Davis jr on MCA. Uptempo powerhouse mod style instrumental.

Few weird/bad ones there. Remember John Vincent playing a record by The Pacesetters I think, called At A Go Go, about 1976, also very strange!!

Im on Fire - 5,000 Volts, UK pop record that was huge at the Casino and in the charts at the same time

Also, 'Soul A Go Go' by Bob Wilson (CU obviously!), played by John Vincent. It is actually 'Chase Side Shoot Up' by Brian Bennett (drummer with the Shadows), and was the theme tune to BBC Golf programmes when JV played it in the 7t's

This is certainly an odd track . They were a UK group , loosely fitting into the prog rock genre , but with a leaning towards a classical / Ennio Morricone sound . They had quite a prolific output through the '70's but nothing else that i have heard is of interest . Read somewhere that they performed a wild version of Cool Jerk on The Old Grey Whistle Test .

Around the time of Ellusive, I'm sure they split and some members formed Liquid Gold who Had a hit with "Dance Yourself Dizzy" just something I haerd at the time.
