I have read that 'The Larks - Grooving at the gogo' was recorded for the 'Harthon' record label, but released on the 'Tower' label.

Was there any actually released on 'Harthon'? Reason I ask is I have just bought a cheapie on 'Harthon', will it be a bootleg? Not bothered if it is like, but just wondered.

Thanks.

Hello,

As far as I know it was a legitimate 1974 reissue, via Weldon McDougal.

The instrumental flip side was previously unissued until then.

This might be a 70's release like the Body Motions "Puttin' You On" / "False Alarm" which has release # of 103074 .

Yes, both the Larks and Body Motions 45s are from 1974.

The cat#'s are the dates of when the 45 was pressed or mastered and should be read like this:

HARTHON 102474 - Larks - Groovin At The Gogo

HARTHON 103074 - Body Motions - Puttin' You On

102474 = 10/24/74 = 24th of October 1974

103074 = 10/30/74 = 30th of October 1974

That's right. All those with the plain label design and red-orange or orange colouring were legit '70s re-issues by Weldon. Some of them had never been issued before. The originals of the ones that had been issued, have the Harthon logo on the label.

Excellent news! Well I paid £4 for it, so at least it's not a boot and pleased it's a legit release.

Thank you

Try and get the other one on Tower - Another Chance b/w Rain. The former a dreamy mid tempo delight the B side wonderful ballad all done by that Philly genius Tommy Bell, you should be able pick one up for a tenner in today's market. They did a couple on Tower too, well worth having one "It's unbelievable" is a re-recording of their earlier release on Sheryl. Good luck :thumbsup:

Got it through today and it looks like it's never been played, really nice and well chuffed for £4.

I will look into the other releases on 'Tower' too, thank you all for the advice.

I guess you could tell he meant Uptown too.
