recorded in december of 1950 and released in march of 1951, sixty spent 30 weeks on the r&b chart, 14 at #1. it was such a monster hit that it crossed over onto the pop charts, peaking at #17. billy ward and the dominoes gave the world clyde mcphatter, bill kenny, jimmy ricks, sonny til, frankie lymon, and jackie wilson. not to shabby for lead singers. this was one of the songs that started it all. recorded in 1950, "i'll rock and roll 'em all night long" phrase from "sixty" came 6 years before "rock around the clock" and less than three years after wynonie harris' "good rockin' tonight". one of the most popular "beach music" songs of all time. 81941
