you little beauty scotty

Jacki Bond - Why can't I love him - Strike

you must be related to uri gellar, i was gonna mention this on another thread yesterday.

someone wanted suggestions foe tunes that may one day go big, this one had a ripple in the 70s back home in leicester but never went massive.

pete robbinson had a few copies at the time i got mine off of leicester market, it has all the feel of a casinoesque type sound, i must admit 30 odd years on it doesn't float mty boat anymore, but it's appeal to the mod/ northern scen i would think would be huge, and on this basis i think it's a sleeping monster.

now i'll be on another box scouring mission

"Theme From Crossroads" by Tony Hatch was a British record but I don't think it was played at Wigan Casino - maybe Russ didn't have a copy.

So why on earth didn't he just tape it off the TV and make an acetate of it???

Dum, du du du dum, du du du dum dum, that's how it went ...and then the hotel burned down.

I think Dusty Springfield recorded "What's It Gonna Be" in the USA so it can't really be included here.

Great record, though.

Here's a couple that are always in my playbox and both on Fontana:

Jenny Wren - Chasing My Dreams All Over Town

Manchester's Playboys - I Feel So Good

The Playboys became an unhealthy obsession for me when I was trying to find a copy, even got to know a couple of members of the group in the process, eventually got one from Japan.

Cheers,

Colin.

PJ. PROBY "You Cant Come Home Again" UK Liberty........Fantastic sax break

BH

Yes, but it was recorded in the USA, it was released in the USA and Proby is American so that sort of disqualifies from this thread on three counts by my reckoning!

its got to barry st john - everything i touch turns to tears. wonderful.

sany wynns - touch of venus - fontana. (took me 25 years to get a copy still love it )

So when did Sandy Wynns a.k.a. Edna Wright, lead singer of the Honey Cone and sister of the equally-American Darlene Love, become anyone's "Fave British Northern Tune". "Touch Of Venus" was recorded in L.A. and released on Champion. Can we stick to the script here, please, and not just throw in any old UK release just because it was one!

So how come we got this far down the line with this thread and nobdy's mentioned how brilliant Jason Knight "Our Love Is Getting Stronger" still is, after nearly 40 years?
