It is with sadness that Shaun Pawsey, Caroles ex husband , has been this morning to let me know that Carole has sadly passed away,

He has asked me to inform those who knew her, and may remember her from her home town of Bolton and nights at Wigan and Stafford allnighters.

Carole has been quite ill for sometime and she is now at peace.

Having known Carole for some 30 years, we had some great times, on our journeys to Stafford and nights out. She will be remembered by me and Stuart with great fondness.

RIP Carole, now go and keep Mickey @ co company.

Very very sad news. Had some laughs with Carole over the years, and she was never afraid of calling a spade a spade even it upset someone, and never one for saying it behind their back, face to face was Caroles style. Remember watching Bobby Bland with her one Wednesday night at Blackburn i think, when one voice called from the crowd- Bloody rubbish, get off, yes it was Carole and do you know what, she was spot on but no one had the bollocks to say it. Very sad time and our thoughts are with Leon. RIP Carole.

It was with great sadness I learnt of Carole's passing last night.  She was my best friend at school and we went through the Casino years together.  I have many photos from the holidays we went on - the summer of 76 springs to mind, truckin' down to the beach at Abersoch with our tape blaring with Northern sounds and sunbathers giving us some strange looks!  We also went to Newquay together, one of Carole's favourite places and attended the soul nights there.

Over the years, when I got married and had the kids (leaving 'the Scene' as many of us did), we drifted apart, but I know Carole stayed true to her love of The Scene and we kept in touch from time to time with the odd phone call and cards.  She was always there for me: when I lost my daughter, which incidentally was on Carole's Birthday (9th March), she got in touch to offer support and attended the funeral - she wrote a lovely letter of condolence and I still have it today, along with many of Carole's postcards, and other letters keeping me updated on her travels in Cornwall over the years and what her current 'fave sounds' were.

About 15 years ago, or maybe a bit longer now, she put me up at hers when we visited King Georges Hall, together for a Soul nite and catch up.  I remember walking into the Windsor Street to the sounds of James Fountain and realised I had 'returned home'. Since then, the rest is history.

So thanks Carole for being a dear friend.  We had our ups and downs together, that's for sure, and sometimes you were hard to reach out to.  You were caring, comical and often complex but were always there for me no matter what.  It's a times like this I wish we had stayed a bit closer, but hindsight is a wonderful thing.

What with other recent passings, it does makes you stop an ponder your own mortality and to make the most of what we have and to give the time to friends who deserve it.

RIP dear friend I will never forget you. XXX Sue

Yes, that's very true of her - Carole didn't 'wrap owt up' you knew where you stood.  Like that in a person - no bullshit.

Sad news indeed. Nice memories of Carole and the rest of the Horwich lot - Ste and Karen, Laney, Kev, Dave, etc etc. We had some great times during the Casino years. Pretty sure I've still got quite a few of her photos somewhere if anyone wants them - she didn't want em back! Haven't seen her for years (think it was at Stoke some time ago). Strangely enough I live in Horwich now and often drive past her mum and dad's old house. Condolences to her family. Life's too short.............

Its with sadness that we say goodbye to Carole. We have loads of great memories of times with her over the long years. Carole did us the honour of being godmother to our daughter Devri. thinking of that time brings back a memory of Caroles suprise to hear Dev telling her "Aunty Carole your having a baby" Only to find out the following week she was pregnant!

Another is remembering Shaun and Carole shouting down the phone "weve just had a boy!" These memories, among many many others, stand out most when I think of her.

Sadly, Caroles illness has beaten her. But the thoughts of good times in the past will be with us and make us smile.

Rest easy Carole

Carol from Horwich..........................what fun times we shared in the seventies in Cornwall,

We also have a few photos, including, from memory, the 100 club and outside the Circus Tavern in Plymouth

we will, sometime in the future find them out and share them. Happy mad times.

Both Pete and I send condolences to all Caroles family and friends at this sad time.

Love Karen and Pete xxx
