Joe Simon"drowning in the sea of love",Four tops"do what you gotta do"good call that,a Jim Webb song,and that guy wrote some stunners,Sinatra said Webb's"by the time I get to Phoenix"was the best song ever written..some compliment that!

.......and as I made my way back over to the lads, the DJ played "I don't blame you at all" -  Smokey & the Miracles!!! :(

 

Got the p*ss ripped out of me every time that record came on for ages after.  :facepalm:

Ok, the Curtis Mayfield thread has got me thinking. As we all know on the rare soul scene we are always after ever more elusive and obscure tracks to listen to and dance to. Sometimes in this quest, I feel we can overlook or forget about many of the quality mainstream soul offerings out there. I am not on about northern soul classics here, I am on about big chart hits here. Please feel free to post your favorites.
