Crazy Lyrics In Northern Soul

Recommended Posts

Sometimes, you hear some mad lyrics, and you just have to laugh.

Example of one I've just been listening to, BIG DADDY ROGERS, I'M A BIG MAN (MIDAS).

'I'm gonna take you to the woodshed, & drop a couple of planks on you'.

Great record, but what's all that about then?

Any more, anyone?

Just a bit of fun.

Aid.

There's a button on the left and one on the riiiiight.

The one in the middle says we're having bad luck.

We're running out of gas and our landing gear is stuck.

The Aeroplane song. Arguably the worst record ever played at a Northern Soul allnighter.

From the Exciters--(Blowing Up My Mind), the classic lyric

"It's almost like eating peas by the pound, then wrapping up in adhesive tape from the waist down"

Isn' it "Eating beans by the pound" ? and thereby blowing up?

I'm A Big Man is surely a reference to his size in the trouser department! "I'm a big man and I'm hard for my baby", "I got a lot of meat and I'm hard to beat cos I'm a big man" "She's got a sweet tooth and she loves my jelly roll". So he plans on taking her to the woodshed and treating her to a coupla' planksworth of his wood.

He was singing about his johnson..

I want to know what the Tends were on about with 'Not too old to cry' - "I'm a kid no more and this ????..."

Where's Simon T when you need him?  :g:

I'm a kid no more and this I fully realise ever since I left my loving mother's side

Skullsnaps "I'm your pimp" GSF immediately springs to mind, absolutely brilliant record, as "black" as coal

Joe Douglas - 'Toss off and shout as loud as you can'.. Crazy Things!

Ruby Andrews - Just loving you, near the end of the song, Rube can definitely be heard to sing "such a tit head" - no question!

Hello Simsy ,I think if you  listen to em again you'll find Joe Douglas sings " Talk soft and shout as loud as I can"  .... Whilst Ruby Andrews sings @2.14  "I'm satisfied" then @ 2.18 " So contented".  But I'm sure whenever these two are played in future it will be your revised lyrics that I hear!

Not exactly on topic but the best 'eyebrow raising' lyric must come at the end of Jackie Wilsons 'I've Lost You' - comes at the end of the record as song: "I'm gonna kiss you in the morning where the sun don't shine" or at least that's what I've always heard it as. Top man!
