This has been a popular tune in my wee record room for a long time. I think it was Martin Goggins who first introduced it to me. A man with impeccable taste.

70's pop soul seems to be today's theme ....

.... so here's one by a (British white) group who's President 45 has just been mentioned on another thread ......

It was the 1st release (B side) on the UK Blue Mountain label ....... De Hems - "Lady, Lady" .........

guess the guys had just been listening to JJ & the Bandwagons, the Fantastics or Jay & the Techniques "Baby Make Your Own Sweet Music" before writing this  .........

Was this ever played on the scene ?

:hatsoff2: HI ALL A BIG UP TO ALL YOU SOULSTERS WHO HAVE KEPT THE FAITH WITH SOME GREAT TUNES, THE SOULSOURCE RECORD CLUB IS YOUR CHANCE TO PLAY A SOUND TO EVERYONE ON THE SITE, THE RULE IS, IT IS YOUR FAVE RECORD OUT OF YOUR OWN COLLECTION, MUST BE OWNED BY YOURSELF ON VINAL, VALUE IS UNEMPORTANT AS THE VALUE IS TELLING PEOPLE WHY IT IS YOUR PICK OF THE DAY,

FOR EXAMPLE, IF TD VALANTINES "LOVE TRAP" THE RECORD YOU PICK, IT'S FINE AS WE CAN ALL RELATE TO IT, IF YOU HAVE JUST FOUND A NEW TUNE AND PLAYED IT 10 TIMES IN THE LAST HOUR, LET'S HAVE A LISTEN, IF YOU CAN LIMIT THE NUMBER OF TIMES THE SAME RECORD IS UPLOADED , JUST TO ADD A 4 WORD COMENT,

PLEASE DON'T, HOWEVER IF THERE IS A RECORD THAT TO MAKE A PIONT ABOUT, THATS COOL BY ME,

:)  :)  :) I AM KICKING THIS SUMMER A-GO GO THREAD OF WITH BILLY(FAT BOY)STEWART "SUMMERTIME" CHESS

A GREAT RECORD THAT HAS MANY COVER VERSIONS :g: ENJOY THE HEATWAVE IN 3 WEEKS TIME

Think we must have had that heatwave to-day 9c and sunny.

From the same LP and a close second to summertime (which blew me away the first time I heard at The Golden Torch)

Billy Stewart "Ole Man River" from "teaches old standards new tricks"

Now give it a chance folks, as it starts off in slow vein:

I'll use my reply to you as poorly disguised excuse to post a second tune without getting a bollocking off our leader :wicked:

The B side is just as good.........So Real

The Capitol issues are supposed to be a better quality but can't comment as I've got a Sidra copy & it sounds OK to me?

Always loved this Impressions sounding cut ..... bought it as a new 45 release on UK Direction back in the day (early 1970).

My first post on the summer thread. Picked this up from Ian D's new Back Beat cd's. Never heard it before but thought it would be good as it's Will Hatcher. Just bought one cheap - wonderful soul music. Who Am I without You Baby.

I hope you like it.
