Three 45S On Shrine

Remember travelling to Rich's shop when it was in Stroudsberg PA in the late eighties. Drove for about 3 hours from Philly and got there at midday, only to find the store was closed. The shop was in a kind of basement around the back of some flats, so I thought I'd go round the front to see if anyone was home or knew if the shop would be opening anytime soon. The path to the nearest door went across the front of the building right past the front window of the first apartment, and, as I walked to the door, I glanced in the window where this late-twenties guy in oily jeans, boots and a lumberjack jacket was on the floor "doing something wrong" with a completely starkers young woman. Shocked, I hesitated just long enough for them to look up and see me standing there like some spotty, 19-year-old peeping Tom. I realised I had two options: leg it and risk being chased down the hill by a shotgun-toting redneck who's blasting at me with one hand while trying to pull his trousers up with the other (I'd seen the movies), or just go to the door, ring the bell and act like I hadn't seen a thing. I chose the latter option and the guy turned out to be as nice as pie; told me the store wasn't open until the afternoon, and directed me to a KFC where I could get a bite to eat while I waited.

Went back to the shop a little later and found Rich to be a lovely guy, who couldn't hide his amusement when I told him I had all of $200 to spend. He even rang a friend and told him, "Hey, I got this English guy in the store. He's got TWO to spend!" before bursting out laughing. Can't remember what I bought, but I do recall he had multiple copies of the Steinways on Oliver at $9 a piece. Needless to say, I left them there...
