Seen as though the theme is the last 40 years, and Jez made the last post and that reminded me of one of my favourite tunes - I thought I'd post it.

The magnificent....

I know what you mean Jez, but I think a lot of that in my case is down to the tapes I used to listen to on the trips to the casino etc - I hear something and automatically expect the next record to be whatever was after that tune on the tape!

I agree that the Artistics made some great tracks for Brunswick (& Okeh), but if I had to pick their VERY BEST cut of all time  ..........

... it would be this one >>  the Mojo Niter-enda tune >>  "I'm Gonna Miss You" .........

Kev's post reminded me of the United Image Volt 4065 release, with the unusual

Edwin Starr penned " I'll keep coming back" Instrumental (with backing vocals on the flip).

Both sides have a Detroit pedigree, though (pardon my ignorance here) does a

vocal version by either Edwin or United Image exist?

UNITED IMAGE - I'LL KEEP COMING BACK:

UNITED IMAGE - LOVE'S CREEPING UP ON ME.

Pat Lewis version of same song:

At the risk of winding you up Martyn, puts me in mind of the Eden Kane number, New Kind of Lovin.

Nice though.

Before we got stuck with the monica "Northern Soul" and way before the sub category "crossover" , US black American artists

carried on making great soul music. By 1969 production techniques had greatly improved as had the quality of the reproduction

of those sound recordings on vinyl.

The production on this piece by J J Barnes is absolutely stunning.

Arrived on the doormat the other day, from the guy with the Stax/Volt muliple copy finds:

Had to post this as I didn't know that the footage existed.

A big favourite of mine from Johnny Beggs' and Duncan Pollet's gigs at "The Bear" Newcastle Under Lyme and a classic to boot.

Fortunately I got a nice UK Atlantic demo for 30 quid during the early nineties.

No wind up mate as I had to go find it on You Tube to listen to it,so I think I'd be a little worried I knew an Eden Kane tune to compare it with :wicked:
