No wind up mate as I had to go find it on You Tube to listen to it,so I think I'd be a little worried I knew an Eden Kane tune to compare it with :wicked:

Cheers

Martyn

I take it that Eden Kane is not to your taste then Martyn?

The scene used to love an instrumental although you don't hear that many these days,I've always been partial to one myself. So today's post from me is an Wigan fave & one I've had since those days,I can't remember the last time I heard it played out?

Well, if we're doing instros ........... here's a jazzy one I have always liked ...........

It says its by the Larks but as they were just a vocal group I guess none of the group members actually appear on this cut ........

The Larks "Brother What Is It" .........

Only on a 1970 LP as far as I know ...........

http://www.discogs.com/Larks-Soul-Kaleidoscope/release/2682678

Song written by Don Julian which is probably why it was included on their LP.

Two other songs he wrote that were on the LP and did escape on 45 (the vocal track "I Love You" being one of em).

Flute on "Brother What It Is" was played by Jennel Hawkins (http://www.discogs.com/artist/Jennell+Hawkins).

Had my copy of Don't Worry 'Bout Me since Roger Banks made it a big nighter tune a few years back, still try & get it into a set now as it's a great piece of R n B & perfect for the dancefloor imo.

Proper Northern, much underrated due to commonalty.

I would guess that most copies are in the UK now, never seen an issue though.

A track I've had since I bought 'Bell's Cellar of Soul Vol.2' back in 68 .............

....... Zilla Mays "All I Want Is You" ..........

Zilla had been around on the recording scene since the early 50's & had been a DJ (on WAOK in Atlanta) since 1954.

She cut some tracks for Allen Toussaint in the 60's, married Little Joe Hinton / Jay Lewis / Joe Hinton (not the Backbeat one) and continued as a radio DJ almost up to her death (90's).

Even though it was the above side of Tou-Sea # 132 that escaped on that UK comp LP, it seems that it was tuva side of the 45 that was the top side ......

details (& the track itself) here ..........   http://desosquichante.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Zilla%20Mayes

Bit of cheesy intro, but I always liked it since picking up a coverless copy of the LP

at an indoor market in Brixham along with Gene Chandler Let me make love to you, during the early 80's:

From their 1976 LP Turning Point, The Tymes "All you ever wanted to know about love".
