Would be interested to hear views on this which I came across whilst surfing Youtube. Very few references to it on Soulsource having searched the forums. Has grown on me but maybe not on others?

Great Tune. Funny released on Seville in the UK, Contempo in the US. I

Brother Geeselad put me on to this many years ago.

This mid tempo item has just the right amount of pathos in the vocal

to make it a top cross over tune.

Sparse production adds to the haunting nature of the tune.

A beautiful piece in my book

Earls,Inc "Just an illusion" Zudan

A Popsike trawl only turns up two copies sold at £35 and $158, last year:

The You Tube post is different from my 45?Is it the LP cut?Not a massive difference but enough to notice,on first play I thought it was one of these re-mix versions that are kicking about?Any info boys please.

With a glance across to the 'Vietnam Soul' thread I'll go with this fine outing ......

this didn't have any actual 'war connections' but if there's a female version out there it easily could .....

Barbara Lynn.

Since I never really rated Take Your Love and Run,the wonders of this ladies vocals

and musicianship came to me later in life after buying a copy of "I'm A Good Woman",

from Rod at the Affleck's, about 15 years ago before it went mega.

After that I tracked her singles down, whenever I could.

Biggest disappointment was "buying" Movin on a Groove for a reasonable price,

on line, only to find it double sold and having my dosh refunded.

Still, there's lots of cheaper ,singles to enjoy:

Without a doubt one of the most brilliant Stax/Volt recordings of all time. All credit to Adey for releasing the CD on the girls earlier this year. About time they released another Stax Crossover CD compilation , "Let's Do the Crossover Again", perhaps.Fine inclusion, though I doubt if it could be played out.

Now I know that the issue goes for big,big money - but I'm well satisfied with the double A sided promo as I think it ranks with the Hot Sauce

as a fine piece of Soul Music:

Think there's a few of us like that Swifty - ignored Motown stuff out of some sort of perverse snobbery.

Mick , this is another label that for some bizarre reason I've overlooked ? God knows why , wasn't until I got The Emotions - Stealing Love , then I started listening to other stuff on Volt and was knocked out by most of it. Funny how you dismiss certain labels ( Me , I meant  ) . Thing is now I'm collecting great tunes for not a lot of money ! Bring on the Volt & Motown collection .

Swifty
