Think there's a few of us like that Swifty - ignored Motown stuff out of some sort of perverse snobbery.

Nice record.

Peter

Hey up Peter , trust you're well my friend , agreed Motown was for the 'divs' because of 'Baby Love' etc. but as we know it basically brought us 'Northern' as we know it. To be honest they were the youth club tunes of my youth , with Donnie Elbert 'Little Piece of Leather' etc. and then I became a Soul snob :unsure:

I need to go to confession  but now I think I'm 'going back to my roots' if you know what I mean .

Mick , this is another label that for some bizarre reason I've overlooked ? God knows why , wasn't until I got The Emotions - Stealing Love , then I started listening to other stuff on Volt and was knocked out by most of it. Funny how you dismiss certain labels ( Me , I meant  ) . Thing is now I'm collecting great tunes for not a lot of money ! Bring on the Volt & Motown collection .

Swifty

Same sentiments mate, you don't have to pay for quality - most of can't anyway.

Hope you're all well folks , not been on much lately , anyway off work for a few days and have been buying some Motown stuff which ashamedly   I have never really bothered collecting (am now though)

THE MONITORS - SINCE I LOST YOU GIRL - VIP

Swifty

Isn't "don't put off until tomorrow"on the flip.

Which was the first cover up I ever remember at The Torch , as Keith Minshull covered up the label with Green Shield stamps!

(pre-all nighter days).

Also on the Tamla Motown theme, out of LA via a Pam Sawyer and Gloria Jones production, this Tamla release.

Never ever heard it played out, but it made its only UK release on the TMG Disco Classics Vol 4, LP.

Personally I always found this tune full of energy and very reminiscent of Gloria Jones' I Ain't Going Nowhere.

P.J.,Patti Jerome also co wrote a couple of other minor Motown Tunes and sadly passed away quite a few years ago.

This sites always worth a visit if you've not been before:

I like the Volt release as I've bought a few nice bits on the label recently. I've really been bitten by the buying bug again - i hope Martyn doesn't see this - he counselled me and offered guidance and advice!!   :(  :D

Hello there folks

A while ago I found a copy of this on ebay.

Once again, VG+ actually meant knackered.

So beautiful though, I had to keep it.
