Hi

I have been reading this website for some time and have finally plucked up the courage to post this message....

I am a female living nr Chester and have loved soul music for as long as I can remember.  However I haven't been involved in the soul scene anywhere near as much as I would like (just a few of times to Blackburn, the Pontins weekender 2013 and a couple of other local events over the past 12 months). I want to change this before life runs out!  Unfortunately I struggle to find friends with the same taste in music so much of the time I am frustrated at seeing an event that I would love to attend but not having the courage to turn up on my own.

I know that this is a huge ask but is there anyone out there who would anyone be willing to take me under their wing (so to speak)?  I'm really looking for a friendly face in a room full of strangers -  someone to show me the ropes please.  I am a huge admirer of N.Soul dancers and I would love to learn.  One of my biggest regrets is missing out on Wigan Casino in the 70's. I am interested in soul events in the north west & north Wales.

Many thanks,

S

:)

Hi S

Welcome to SS.

You'll meet loads of friendly people on here. I'm sure there'll be some folk up in the NW who will take you under their wing.

Best.

Peter

There's a few people in your corner of the world, Northwich, Winsford, Crewe etc, so I'm sure you'd find someone you could tag along with quite easily. There's a couple of good do's around Crewe too, and of course Manchester and Stoke aren't so far! Do you drive?

There's a lifts for soulies group on Facebook, you could always check that out  if your're on the whole mytwitface social networking thing.

Good luck! And good on ya, for being brave and coming on here too!

Thanks again

Hi Sooze and welcome

There are some great events around the north west and you will always be welcomed

The Box, Crewe is a good venue and not far from you, it is straight opposite Crewe railway station

:hatsoff2: HI ALL   SOOZE You don't need to worry about anything, the RARE SOUL SCENE has a reputation second to none, it's safe scene where you can just be yourself, with the best company and never get hustled by people you would rather not be with,

I would guarantee you will have a great time, and you will meet many new friends, who will become close lifetime mates  DAVE K

Hi snooze,

I have a friend that I go with to soul nights, as like you did not want to go on my own. But one time my friend could not go, so I thought in for a penny in for a pound, and went to one on my own. By the end of the night I'd had a great time and made lots of new friends. And now I know I can go to any NS night and ill see someone I know to sit with.

Life is to short just go for it.

KTF

A big thank you to everyone who has taken the time to reply and for your kind words of encouragement.  I know I need to face my fear and just turn up at a venue but ..........  Who knows, maybe one day........... or maybe it's not meant to be.  If I don't go I've only myself to blame for missing out.  Thanks anyway for all your support.

bite the bullet sooze don't stay in you only get bored  :wicked:

Hi Night Nurse

I'm out every weekend but not at soul events where my heart lies as I can't find anyone to go with me :-( .  I may follow your advice to bite the bullet someday, after all what's the worst that can happen?

Thanks for getting in touch :-)
