been discussed on other threads..will be watching if i remember but the cynic in me says it will be the same old same old...got a few dvds with various programmes from tv over the years and they basically all say the same with different faces..same clips from this england and based mainly on the wigan years...seen a couple of clips on facebook and was good seeing them chat to the youngsters...would like to see more of todays scene that doesnt involve oldies nights at kings hall to be honest...i know its the biggest night etc so tv companies are only interested in that but ive seen it a few times now!...still can live in hope

I'm going to turn the central heating up full, throw a bucket of p*ss on the downstairs lavvie floor, then get the wife to drop me off at the railway station.  I'll then run back home, where the kids will be queuing outside the front door.  Once the wife opens the door, I'll barge my way to the front, run through the house and plonk myself down in front of the TV.  If I get bored with the show, I'll go and look through my record collection.

Certainly brings back memories, oh plus the necessary pie and coke midway through.

regards

Enjoyed it. I'm sure we'll all have parts of it we wish had been different but overall it felt like a good niche programme. Left out a lot obviously, maybe 100 Club being a very big one.

But all credit to our Mr Mason, good moves, if he's not even been to a soul night for 30 or so years. Great to see at least a few moments of the Wigan Young Souls too, some great dancing there.

And the clips integrated from the film, Northern Soul, look very promising.....

I thought it was good but the texts have started to come through....do you wear big baggy trousers with too many pocket flaps.Reply..I've moved on I'm.into the wedge haircut and pegs look.Thinking about northern on mainstream tv who remembers these...Dani Behr...butcher deejay....Hearsay Morecambe...Searling and John Vincent......Chasing Rainbows...Phil Dick....Out On The Floor....Network Seven...Dance Chase Sweet Darling....

Agree, not too bad really, and quite good in parts.

Thing is, the scene itself if fragmented, we all like some bits of it & not others.

Think this piece showed it warts and all, but above all, that its about the music.

I always think what would outsiders think? like people in work etc.

I think it showed the scene up to be more intriguing than sad, which is what I initially worred about.

Same old clips though.

but overall, good.

Corking soundtrack. Lots covered in a short space. Nice balance of past and present. Fran's still got the moves and Trickster's slowing down. Best bit for me was the Young Soul in his bedroom - such commitment bodes well for the future. Shame there's so little movie footage of the Casino so it tends to be recycled. Congratulations to Paul for a job well done.

Paul....as i'm sure your reading this...as is Elaine....and all of you who took part....thank David Arthur for me....the Editor...X As a film'documentary maker in me time...and Soulie.....who edits his own stuff......I couldn't have asked for a better representation for the masses than what you all gave ...and showed. I laughed...felt emotion....and certainly related to all. That 'Togetherness' the scene has nurtured for the masses over the years...was captured and shown by you all. You said it Paul.....it's in you still....and anyone who has experienced it....can't ever forget......your always welcome...X I haven't read any opinion above. ...just watched the show and came and posted as a direct reaction...and post as i have. Thank you all...X

Brought back my youth in a flash and made me glad I gave so much of my life to soul music.. So much more to the scene that still needs to be told but a decent effort and did not have to watch it through my fingers... 7.5/ 10..... I am still waiting for that true feeling I felt then and still feel now to be shown and captured on film....

Hi, believe me I really do hope the film is a massive success. Everyone concerned has put a huge amount of effort into it. The bar was set by Paul Sadot's stage show but then it came crashing down with Soul Boy which irrespective of the subject was truly truly dire. So good luck to Elaine and her team lets hope it's a peach.......
