Evidence? Because that would be like a personal dream coming true.

I dreamt of one in 1980

Sorry Benji I was kidding, hoped my smiley would have made that clear. Still I've always wondered why there isn't one? Can you imagine another couple of minutes after he really  starts singing ?

Cheers Paul

I must say I have noticed a bit of  a death-knell musically as regards some of the choices in this thread, my opinion of course, re the term 'soul music' but each to their own ay?

Some have stretched it a bit for me if I'm honest - you know cos I know it all like.

Where the hell do you start.............

My head was totally f*cked the first time I heard this record...........

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUvQEasAato

Probably my signature tune over the last ten years.......the right surname too..........

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzHhn83myJk

Bought two of these.........a W/L promo to play, and a perfectly sealed release copy to cuddle............

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iblnARhi9IQ

So, this ain't soul???........and a rare orange vinyl 12" to boot (excuse the pun!).......fits the requirements of this forum perfectly.........

Better stop there!!

Some nice tunes Mark  - Groove Junkies always top value - got a fabulous mix cd of their stuff. Asaph had one of his tunes mixed in Nottingham I seem to recall, by the DIY crowd? Is it on that 12"?

And anything with Big Brooklyn Red is going to be worth a punt eh?

'Smoke' Howard (vocalist on the Vince Montana Jr & Philly Sound Orch track) and Mark Evans (vocalist on the Ron Hall & Muthafunkaz track) -- posts #79 & 80  -- are both big mates with Kenny Hamber.

... thought a bit of NS related info was appropriate on this thread.

"Essential 12"....!! Essential??? There is only 1...as a 'DJ'........and familiarity does breed contempt.......as i've forgot perhaps the biggest essential 12" i've had in me collection... since becoming a 'general DJ' in 1990ish.....and was just reminded of it when placing Happy Birthday comments to Chalky...........although I play me Robert Murphy version when I can....and spin the 7" of this version when neccesary....

I present...for perhaps the 1,000+ time....sigh.....the 'classic' and ESSENTIAL must have 12" record.....Happy Birthday.....by Stevie Wonder.....!x

And both sides of this classic:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZcbDESaxhY

(Supposedly actually mixed by Walter Gibbons, who got sacked for taking too long over it, Levan just came in and finished it off.. Or Something..)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CedRajyyJS8

Perhaps more in keeping with Soul Source. Not sure who the vocalist is, tearing it up Womack-style!

You see, I think the best ones are those that came out when the format was just invented and did something brand new with the space, fidelity, volume it afforded.. Rather than just a longer version of something that could have come out on 7"or LP(good as all those can be) and before it became the default format for dance music...

One of the most exciting records ever for me. Just when you think she is done....
