Flyers are such an integral part of the scene...those brought back many happy memories.

Hands up if you never ever had a few up on your walls!

Thanks for sharing 'em Chalky.

Chalky,

Fantastic stuff - thanks for sharing.  Really glad you put these up, loads I'd not seen before and absolutely fascinating, not least where the graphics are concerned - loved the completely hand-drawn one for a church hall somewhere (if I remember right - bit like Brucie's Generation Game watching them all go past like that!).

A real bit of history and I'm glad that even though we couldn't see them in the book, we could still see them here.  Nice one.

All the best,

Nick

Thanks Nick, long time no see and hope all is well.

I've got many of your Scenesville flyers that I haven't scanned yet.  Plenty more in the garage, just got to find the time to scan them.

Great to see some of your Scenesville ones there as well, Nick...yours were always classy looking and dare I say some of the first to actually look professionally done...set a high bar...although yes the hand-drawn ones bring a smile to the face.

MY hands are up. Honestly.

Guess it was just me, then :D

Had some Casino, Yate and Hinckley ones adorning my walls when I was too young to know any better

Bet you just had Bowie and Slade posters, eh Pete...or the one of the female tennis player scratching her arse

I remember having Bowie, Slade, Rod Stewart and T Rex in 72-73, I replaced those with the colour centre page of Black Music magazine in 74-75.  Can't remember any after that really.

I was at Tommy Hunts night also, like you say don't seem 10 years ago, I worked with TommyHunt in 1984 at a club called Adeles as well, that don't seem too long ago either, bet I know you by sight.

I used to have them stuck or pinned up all over my room. Usually because they had some record or other info scribbled on them from a night out.

Great stuff mate, those where the days you could write "new wants" on the back of flyers.

Who bloody was responsible for printing both sides of flyers.....they should be hung! Nowadays with phones etc there's no need for pen and paper. Shit they'll be doing away with vinyl next!!,!,

The first 'professional' ones I saw were Cliff Steel's Detroit Academicals ones.

But yes, the hand drawn ones are fab.

:hatsoff2: HI ALL....CHALKEY This is the stuff... the DOGS, I have collected flyers from day one on the scene, as they evoke the memory bank so well, also like how you displayed them, also worth a note is how the HOME PC has changed since the 8ts some great creative art work has evolved over the decades.

Thanks for making your stuff available, NICE ONE & RIGHT ON :) DAVE  K

Brilliant stuff Chalky!! Some great memories rekindled through the posters, Nighters remembered and some forgotten!

I must admit the night I DJ'd at the Fourbeat Allnighter in Manchester is not one I remember well, I think the 5-a-side football and Table Tennis would have left an indelible impression but unfortunately not! Rob Marriot's Soul Power All nighters  in 1987 at the Swan in Mansfield however I remember well, absolutely blinding venue with Butch, Keb Darge, Guy Hennigan and Rich Broughton playing with  tfk Andy Whitmore and  myself providing the modern stuff.

Really worthwhile exercise Chalky and it proves how vibrant the scene was in the post Wigan 80's in places like Dunstable, Hull, London, Leicester, Stafford, Blackburn  with not a f'**kin' handbag in sight!

Cheers mate

Hi Pete hope you are well.

I think that flyer for the four beat one, I think that date was cancelled, Belle Vue is it?  Tony Smith will tell you for sure.  Mucky Duck was a great venue.

You are right though it was vibrant despite what those who weren't there say.  I was doing basically two allnighters a weekend, plus bank holidays and at least one soul night which was usually the warm up for the nighter.

Thanks everyone for the comments, I've more in the garage, I might get a bit of time later to add to it.

Any in particular?  I think the year I added to the title so if you look on flickr you might see it?

If not let me know any in particular and I will tell you.

I can see that you've added the year to the title of each picture now thanks Chalky.

Not an event most of you would have gone to, but it's interesting ref the Art Work / Letraset Wording - It took hours! :D I remember having Mace D.J at this Club back then.

Btw - It's on my wall

All the best,

Len
