I think there's only ever been one copy of City Skies that actually plays the instrumental to Thank The Lord For Love and JM broke it! He'll have been looking for another copy ever since and would be bursting out of his trousers if he found a voc/inst coupling that pre-dates either release. The period is about right... However, could you say the flipside is a classic? My money is (hesitantly) on something like the Emanuel Lasky Wild Deuce 45 on a missing Thelma number. Either that or an issue of something previously thought unreleased (Little Ann/'Diane Lewis' etc, maybe a VIP promo of 'Suspicion'), though the problem with most of those theories is the likely missing flipside. However it's also fun to let the flights of fancy roam free and imagine something like I'm Gone/Crying Clown by Lorraine Chandler on a previously unknown (and forgotten by everybody involved) Awake issue. As I say, totally unlikely, but fun. Most likely it's just going to be a gold Professionals. Or a green vinyl John And The Wierdest, etc, etc. Fun guessing, interesting to see what it's going to be, and hats off to John for a top-notch promotional campaign - as long as the final vinyl stands up to the speculation! Cheers Richard ZTSC 97692 was used for the re-issue on Thelma 114 of Joe Matthews "We Got A Good Thing Going" which was of course a version of Billy Kennedy on Thelma 109. Don't know if the ZTSC number was previously used on a legit 60s Detroit release also. If it did I'll attend the next Russfest at Skegness in baggy trousers and "badged up" as a pennance for losing the bet - that's how confident I am. Reading Keith's post above, a Billy Woods demo is looking possible or a Don Varner on Veep - at least that's a two sider.....BUT have to say for me personally a classic on a different label or format is less appealing than the discovery of a previous "acetate only" track. I had the cracked copy sold it to Tim Brown Carl Fortnum has a minter, different b side to the Fontana release so that discounts it as the record as the b side is un known and don't he say 2 classic sides?
