I run the Motown Junkies blog (https://motownjunkies.co.uk). I also host a little radio segment called "Discovering Motown" where I play 3 or 4 tracks from the week in Motown history. (This week: 2 from Smokey & the Miracles, plus Frank Wilson and Cornell Blakely).
From the New Year, I'll be doing a regular 2 hour Motown show, with carte blanche to dig as deep into the archives as I like - obscure singles, unreleased stuff, B-sides, rare album tracks, alternate versions, you name it - as well as some big hits to keep the sponsors happy.
We've recorded a few one-hour specials to go out over the Christmas period (for playing at any time of the day or night - filling dead air!) - these are aimed more for a general audience rather than hardcore soulies, though I did still sneak a few lesser-known names and cuts in there. The first one (internally titled "Motown Ladies") is available to listen now, with a few more due to go up between now and Christmas. It's a very rough prototype but hopefully it gives a bit of a flavour of what's to come.
For all the audio - both the 1hr specials and the current week's little mini-slot - visit my Facebook page:
All requests and suggestions considered (and gratefully received)!I know there are a lot of Motown radio shows out there on the Internet fighting for your time, so I hope to make it worth the effort of tuning in to mine.
